Westboro's only happy when it rains

by Jeremy Hooper

Since it's Good Friday, we thought we'd pass on a message from some self-professed good Christians.  This one is from some obscure Kansas church called Westboro Baptist.  Anyone ever heard of 'em?

Ah, yes.  What better way to celebrate Christ than to wish for the drowning deaths of thousands?

What are your plans for Sunday, Westboro -- gonna sail through the flooded areas on an ark with a bumper sticker reading, "We would throw you a life jacket but God told us not to"?

***NOTE: The full Westboro press release can be found on their website. However, a link from us is something those silly bunnies will never receive.

Your thoughts

Wow. They've really gotten desperate for attention.

I'm waiting for them to start protesting at animal shelters when they put unwanted pets down. GOD HATES STRAYS!

Don't give these Westboro bigots any ideas Jeremy, they just might take you up on it and start looking for where they can rent a boat... ;-)

Do you ever suppose that the Phelps clan has lost it *so completely* that if they were to meet themselves 10 years ago, that the Phelps clan of yesterdecade, just months away from protesting Matthew Sheppard's funeral, would have been shocked at the idea of their future selves picketing the funerals of completely random flood victims?

I think that when you can see God's wrath against homosexuality in the death of innocent people you don't have to worry about giving those people ideas. I would already consider that pretty out-of-the-box thinking...

I mean, if you think about it, most of the arguments that are still presented by those who are anti-gay are pretty creative in order to inspire the hatred needed to get most Americans riled up enought to do something about it. How else do you take someone relative or neighbor and make them so scary that people actively work to take away their rights and freedoms?

"You know you have made God in your own image when he hates what you hate"- I have no idea who said that, saw it on a bumper sticker somewhere.

Um, Cindi, God does hate strays. That's why you should always spay or neuter your pet. Hmm, maybe we could apply that to WBC?

"You know you have made God in your own image when he hates what you hate"

Not sure where it originated but it was quoted in Bird by Bird by Anne Lamot
