Video: Hallelujah! Pro-gay advocates enter land of 'God'

by Jeremy Hooper

Wow, a pro-gay video on the reliably homophobic GodTube site?! User-submitted video hell has officially frozen over:

(video has been yanked -- see updates below)

To Have and To Hold: Faith Leaders for the Freedom to Marry1 [GodTube]

**UPDATE, 4/20: Oh. My. GodTube. It looks like the site has pulled this pro-gay message of faith!!!!!

***UPDATE 2: Fortunately you can still watch it and another vid on California Faith For Equality's site.

I'm speechless. That's astounding.

I believe that Americans really do want to do the right thing for gay people. They don't want to be discriminatory and cruel.

I think our battle for rights will be over once there is a strong Christian voice offsetting the conservative Christians with the message that discrimination is sinful and a violation of the message of Christ. Decent people will then be able to support equality without feeling like they aren't in violation with their faith. And, let's face it, most Americans identify with Christianity, even if they never darken the doors of a church.

Already there are some few churches willing to stand up and preach love and equality. This is only going to grow. And we should be thankful for every one of them.

I nearly had tears in my eyes. It was as if a dream come true...How I wish to have heard these words years ago.
May God bless them all.

I went to the Godtube site, signed up, and gave this video a 5 star rating. There are more of us progressive Christians out there that appreciate our progressive leaders who speak out.

Man that was incredibly refreshing to watch.

Note the name change. I thought I should make it official. Through an accident of time I ended up as a Reverend.

That I'm gay and an atheist has no bearing upon it. But I do recall the hearings for marriage equality in RI last year. We had a Muslim, a Jew and a Catholic all sitting at the same table denouncing it. This video was refreshing but then I realized, there are liberalized splinter-churches like the MCC, or Reform Judaism that actually support our cause.

I do note we didn't see any Imam's getting up in favor.

To good to last, godtube hasn't changed one bit.

I watched this video on Friday, and now when I try to view it, I get this instead:

"This video has not been approved yet."

Yes, it now seems like they have pulled the video. UNBELIEVABLE! And we will certainly follow up on why, exactly, the GodTube administrators felt they had the right to pull the clip.

Fortunately you can still watch it and another vid on California Faith For Equality's site:

Actually, the clergy in this video are not all splinter groups. There are 2 Conservative Jewish rabbis, 1 Methodist, 1 Lutheran and we even had Episcopalians and a Catholic film with us. Alas, we couldn't include them in the final cut for reasons of film quality.
