No need for verbosity

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 25-14In this morning's USA Today, the Family Research Council's Timothy Dailey has written yet another on CA Supreme Court's marriage ruling and what the far-right intends to do about it. However, to save you the time of reading yet another article that could've been generated by the social conservatives' Code Word-Laden Marriage Attack Generator 3000™, we thought we just boil it down to the key words:

jettison
battle
activists
fear
union of a man and a woman
overturning
institution of marriage
nebulous
defend
reject
radically different
bombastic rhetoric
maligning
the people
"bigoted extremists"
protect the institution
foundation of society

Handy, right? Of course we could all save even more time if these folks would just come out and say what they're obviously trying to convey:

AAAAAAH! GAYS! SCARY! SNUB 'EM!

Opposing view: 'The battle has just begun' [USA Today]

**For a much more thoughtful, from the heart assessment, check out Evan Wolfson's reasoned OpEd that is running simultaneously with Dailey's piece.

Your thoughts

So far all of the USA Today comments are against Timothy Dailey.

Hey! Thanks for all the great info about same-sex unions. I find this topic a lot as I browse through political websites and blogs (mostly liberal ones). I came across your blog and find it to be very interesting. There are a bunch of others I like too, like huff post, and other news sites like politico. Do you know of any that cover politics and the environment? I saw earthlab.com which has mostly environmental info but some politics. I took EarthLab.com’s carbon calculator (http://www.earthlab.com/signupprofile/). I was pretty easy to use (and it doesn’t make me feel guilty after I take it). Are there any other blogs you would recommend? Can you drop me a link to your favorites or any ones with green info?

Try pams place (www.pamshouseblend.com) its less focussed on gay issues, but also less satirical, it's basically news from a liberal perspective, and often well reasoned comments are made.
