Westboro itching for Takei/DeGeneres invite
The first thing we have to say to the following press release: George Takei has freely announced that his wedding will be on 9/14 at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. As best we know, Ms DeGeneres does not have a firm date or place set. A simple Google search would give one this information.
The second thing we have to say: But what responsibility do they have to release the details of their private affairs anyway? Even "howler monkeys" are entitled to keep their parties from press and public hijackings.
The third thing we have to say: What the f**k is Westboro Baptist's damage? Seriously. How does the hate infestation get this strong?
Westboro, if we've told you once we've told you a million times: "Where are you registered?" is the proper response! If you want to throw in "Hell-bound heathens" or something like that, then so be it. But hook up a howler monkey up with a gift, yo.
***NOTE: The above Westboro release can be found on their website. However, a link from us is something these poor wedding gift givers shall never receive.
Your thoughts
"We hate you and everything you stand for, please tell us where to find you so we can say rude abusive things in your presence."
It's a pity they didn't sign with "love and kisses"

The only good thing about these people are at least they're honest and they don't hide behind the whole "hate the sin, love the sinner" BS.

The thing I'm always curious about, and somebody tell me if you know the answer: How do they finance this crap?

I am pretty sure that Star Trek fans outnumber Westboro members by a...what? 2ooo-1 margin? I can just picture old Phelpsy going toe-to-toe with a Klingon Honor Guard! "Set phasers to 'whack his pee pee'! That could get ugly!
Posted by: Thom | Jun 5, 2008 7:09:21 PM
Well, at least they referred to them as "friends."

Right, I was just thinking about all the ST fans that will probably just be 'in the hood' when it goes down. Good phaser call, but picture the Japanese Tea Garden in SF I was thinking more along the line of having him be a gate post decoration!

And 'seriously', LA's Finest has a pretty good track record of protecting THEIR celebrities, I cannot imagine them allowing any wingnut demonstrations within a mile of the venue.

These people, honestly, are probably one of the best things that could happen for the advancement of gay rights. These cretins make it impossible for decent Christians to calmly say "well that's not MY Christianity, my reasons for not liking homosexuality are different than theirs." It's all the same hate, some people just take it to a higher level.

Paul: Yes, especially now, when "mainstream" people and groups are unleashing their own hyperbolic attacks against CA marriages. Compare what Westboro said today with what Matt Barber said yestrday:

Yes, Westboro's is worse. But when it's all boiled down, is the message really that different?

Yeah, that would class up their sure-to-be-fabulous weddings: a couple of inbred religious zealots with bad hair and poor grammar standing outside the ceremony bearing flourescent sex-slogan posters. Your invites must have gotten lost in the mail.

If God wanted us to change our ways, wouldn't he send more credible messengers? I take the fact that the only people who spout off against homosexuals are repulsive idiots to be a sign from God that we should IGNORE them.

I have to agree with Paul, these guys are actually making it harder for the "nicer" organizations to hide behind their false compassion, and really there stuff is pretty comical when you realize there are only about 70-80 members of this movement. I remember when I was coming out and hearing about their websites and demonstrations, thinking that this huge organization was out to get me, and that so many people where involved, but no they were just the loudest! Now I can hardly stop laughing when I read these things.

That's the lulziest request for an invite evar.

I think freddie and his evil gulag get donations from those they've suckered into believing his crap. My partner and I are getting married on June 28, we're getting our license on June 17, and we can't WAIT! (Heck, I told her that if I'd known it'd be this much hassle, I'd have dragged her butt off to Reno!).

Shirley & crew never disappoints with their hilarious and creative name-calling! I had to make a video response to THIS one LOL!

Here's the link, believe I posted the wrong one just a second ago:

I think that they all need to get medical attention. There must be something wrong with their brain chemistry or they may not be getting enough oxygen to their temporal lobes or they might find something that needs to excised (assuming, of course, that they find anything up there at all.) Maybe it is something in the water there? But I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is that it's a gene-pool issue - maybe they don't have enough branches on that family tree.
And, is it just me, every time I see a picture of Fred, I think that the Grinch (and Scrooge for that matter) must have been patterned after him. That mental-patient hair and the scowl on his face (even when he is "smiling") . . . I have to ask if he looks that way because he is deranged or if he is deranged because he looks that way?

I love the Westboro Baptist church.
They present gays with an great opportunity to show the world what religious fanaticism - taken to its extreme - looks like.

Dude, if they are going to heaven, I definately don't want to go.
