Poll: The writing's on the turnpike
If public officials conclude that the Garden State's civil union law has failed to provide same-sex couples with the same legal protections as marriage (which is pretty much what they've already found), 58.5% of New Jersey residents would be perfectly fine with bumping up the state's current civil unions system to full nuptial parity, while only 36% would outright oppose the idea. And even without the variable of public official findings, 50.1% are still in favor of putting the Garden State on par with California and Massachusetts, with only 42.3% opposing in that regard.
These findings and more come from a new Zogby poll:
ZOGBY POLL: NEW JERSEY WANTS TO DUMP CIVIL UNIONS FOR MARRIAGE EQUALITY, AND IS READY NOW [GSE]
A third finding indicates that regardless of their personal views, nearly 69% of residents consider marriage equality to be an inevitable. The other 31% might have gone the other way, but they were too distracted by looking out the window in hopes that Santa Claus would finally show up.
Your thoughts
And now Barber and LaBarbera are just a little more isolated. And they won't be able to whine about activist judges or the will of the people being thwarted.

Good. Every state wherein same-sex marriage becomes legal means we are one step closer to doing likewise in Virginia. Still, we have a looooooooooooong way to go here.
