SHOCKING: Accepting the notion that you're 'broken' leads to unhappiness

by Jeremy Hooper

We've been saying for years that the burden blood" from so much gay anguish really belongs on the backs of the anti-gay community. A new Univ. of Minnesota study is now bearing that out:

Researchers at the University of Minnesota have published a study showing that the degree of internalized homonegativity (negative attitude towards homosexuality) among homosexual men is what predicts poor mental and sexual health – not the act of being homosexual.

As part of attending an HIV prevention seminar, 422 Midwestern gay and bisexual men completed surveys assessing their degree of homosexuality, their degree of positive or negative attitudes towards homosexuality, and a range of mental and sexual health variables.

In all cases, internalized homonegativity, not being homosexual, predicted poorer mental health (particularly increased depression) and worse sexual health. The study appears in the September issue of the Journal of Homosexuality.

So in summary: Gay intercourse = enjoyable; Those who poke their noses in gays' bedrooms and shake their fingers at their lovemaking = the anti-orgasm.

No word on any pending studies gauging the effect homonegativity has on those who so eagerly choose to dispense it. But it really doesn't matter, since their side would just ignore or deny the evidence anyway.

Your thoughts

And the negativity causes many to hide voicelessly in the closet. And become Christian music superstars. And when it is all said and done, some are honest enough to stand up and live their truth in the end
