Video: Defending their 'Love', offending our love
We've been telling you how Sarah Palin's home church is promoting the Love Won Out "ex-gay" conference. We've also been showing you how both the pastor of Wasilla Bible, Larry Kroon, and the folks behind Love Won Out, Focus on the Family, have been defending the program as little more than a compassionate social group for gay men and women. Well now, in a newly recorded video feature, Focus on the Family is continuing to (a) mask their true agenda behind flowery language, (b) present those who reject the offensive, unscientific, unsupported notion that gays are in need of some sort of "fixing" as the "intolerant" ones, and (c) make it sound as if the media has questions about this movement simply because they are "liberally biased" (and not because the movement itself is eyebrow-raising). Have a look:
Such a waste of words. Because they can talk about the "complexities" all they want. They can talk about the intricacies of their mission all day long. They can use the word "post-gay" as much as they want. The simple fact tis that this way of thinking flies in the face of ALL CREDIBLE SCIENCE! And another simple fact is that their program, which they talk about like its an intricate spy mission that we mere laypeople could never possibly understand, is meant to (a) make gays seems spiritually broken, and (b) ultimately turn them into something called an "ex-gay" or "post-gay" (the label Melissa Fryrear herself uses).
Since we are happy adjusted gays who don't need a "cure," these "ex-gay" endeavors would strike us as a negative even if they were fully honest about their goals. But this movement's constant sympathy-seeking spinning? Well it only heightens the annoyance!

**NOTE: This is the same Meliisa Fryrear who once said: "Having talked with hundreds of homosexuals, I have never met one that had not been sexually violated in his or her life.” And the same Melissa Fryrear who once said that lesbians look "mannish" because such is their "suit of armor to keep [them] from being hurt."
Your thoughts
It is interesting that she chooses to call herself a "post-gay" rather than something like "formerly-gay" or "now-straight". The ambiguity seems to suggest that she is neither gay nor straight??? And, someone like her has to have spent some time thinking (and talking with others) about exactly what she would call herself when interviewed publicly, so that choice of moniker has to have been selected in a somewhat deliberative manner.
"Post-Gay" to me sounds a little bleak! Like post-apocalyptic or postpartum. But, that could just be me and my post-lawn-mowing / pre-scotch state of mind.

I doubt that she's talked to "hundreds of homosexuals" who've been sexually violated. I find it hard to believe that many people would volunteer such a personal thing to somebody as screwy as her. In what context would that even happen?

There's a McDonald's across the street from the church hosting Saturday's Love Won Out conference in Anchorage. Are they still boycotting McDonald's? Maybe we should get our morning coffee there before the PFLAG demo begins outside the church! I'll post the photos and stories this weekend on Bent Alaska.
