A Dowd-y look at a dowdy issue
If you're an LGBT activist or one who follows the movement, Maureen Dowd's latest NY Times column won't teach you all that much. But let's face -- we are a minority, debatably even within the LGBT community itself. So if only for the sake of starting far-reaching conversations, we're thrilled that Dowd -- she of a wide audience that includes many could-be converts -- dedicated this week's column to Milk, Feinstein, and what the current interest in '70s era California politics means for queer people of the Bush-almost-over era. Check it out:

Thanks. got column...its a good one. Have use paragraphs from it in many other blogs today... I mean timely or what? Why the *** didn't it come out in August or Sept?
"The movie, chronicling the rancorous California fight of gay activists against church-backed forces in the ’70s to prevent discrimination against gays, is opening amid a rancorous California fight of gay activists against church-backed forces to prevent discrimination against gays." DUH! What's the line about those who don't know history are bound to repeat it!!!
Also, that she was willing to post LKramer's email to her Prop H8 question:
“DON’T WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE RIGHTS?” he e-mailed back, blessedly cantankerous. “I AM ASHAMED OF YOU THAT YOU HAD TO ASK ME THAT QUESTION.”
Perfect.
