Go read Bilerico's (Was)live(but now it's not)blog

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 10-103If you're like us, you might have missed the multi-state marriage equality liveblog that the Bilerico Project held last night. Whether it was due to studying, drinking, or studying drinking, you need not tell us. It's okay. We all have commitments. Well, unless we're talking about legal marriage commitments, in which case no, we don't all have those. Which is super annoying. Come on people, it's 2008 -- can't we get past this benign non-issue?! Geez!

Wait, where were we? Oh yea -- thanks to the magic of techno-archiving, you can head over to BE now and read what liveblog participants Kate Kendall (No on 8), Nadine Smith (Equality Florida) and Barbara McCullough-Jones (Equality Arizona) had to say about their work battling the marriage amendments that passed in their respective states:

Your thoughts

Hey! I was there. Still in office...on west coast time..so sober, for once. Its Pam that was late, actually working I think. It was a good one. I am still working on the answer to 'How to get straights to accept gay marriage." That's complicated, but I still KNOW the best way is to get them to just meet and like gays. So the more gays are out and proud and just fine nice, working members of the community it will happen.
Also, as a bit of an aid to counter the 'gay as choice' fallacy, here is a brief report on one of the medical findings of 2008...there are differences in the brains and the genes of people (men or women) who like women, and people (men or women) who like men.... Do not know if ambibrained people are bi..not enough in study group to tell I would think.

Oh, other thing to work on is how to 'nationalize' or at least coordinate Stonewall 2.0, as evryone is calling it. Again..that will take work, but I tell you you can get lots of great ideas from Ryan Lizza's Article in the New Yorker of Nov 17, 2008, about how the Obama campaigna WON. How to make weaknesses into strengths. How to nullify the oppositions campaign. How to make your 'candidate' look like they can 'do the job.' Taking it to small groups to get positive attention (e.g. Obama got Idaho caucus votes vs primary votes of a bigger state). How to collect information and names etc. from rallies, to use as political base etc.
