They who cause us emotional woes now facing financial ones

by Jeremy Hooper

Well we still don't know if that Focus on the Family TV ad is actually scheduled to air on the major networks like the group claims. We do, however, now know why they need it to air in the first place:

Focus on the Family plans an unspecified number of layoffs, and will be announcing specifics in the next few of days, Focus spokesman Gary Schneeberger said Thursday.

This comes on the heels of Focus' announcement in October that 46 employees would be reassigned or laid off next year due to a restructuring of its distribution arm. Focus has a staff of about 1,200 people.

Hey, here's an idea: Rather than spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on banning legal marriages, use that money to pay your staffers. And then assign those staffers to do ACTUAL good deeds like, say, feed the hungry, house the homeless, clothe the impoverished, clean up the environment, encourage respect for all living things, and build stronger communities. Hell, we would even give to that sort of group. But when the group's mission instead places gays and liberals in a society-destroying boat, and the expenditure list places priority on foisting personal faith views onto civil society, you'll have to forgive us if we don't shed a tear when we learn of any internal hardships. After all, hardship is the product they've been sending to our homes for decades.

Your thoughts

My fondest wish is that all 1200 people get laid off and the whole organization is swallowed up by the earth.

I happened to be in Colorado last week and after seeing the signs on the interstate for the Focus on the Family Campus, I just had to stop and visit the belly of the beast.

I had absolutely known idea the size of the operation. The FoF was bigger than the from which I graduated. Paying rent and light on these buildings has got to cost a pretty penny. I wonder how much of their take goes to that instead of the "religious outreach" they claim to do.

FoF has never had a mortgage on any of the buildings or land. All materials and labor were either donated or the money was donated to pay for them.

Bethany: I can't help but notice this is the second FOF related comment you've made today. Do you have an affiliation?

Oh, and I've responded to your last one about, if you want to dialogue further

Greg, don't be silly. If they're swallowed up by the earth, they won't leave graves or corpses that we can desecrate for having put the rational thinking world through this shit.

How about a plauge then INCOGNITO? Since they're so fond of blaming us for them.
