Audio: Out progressives sometimes disagree. It's okay.
Yesterday we took a break from Howard Stern and tuned our Sirius/XM dial over to Michelangelo Signorile's fantastic OutQ radio show. We knew that our pal Pam Spaulding...
(*proof we're pals)
...was going to be on Mike's show, and we always like to hear what she has to say. We did not, however, anticipate such a thoroughly fantastic piece of radio!
The basic topic: Pam and Michelangelo were a little annoyed that Rachel Maddow, both an out lesbian an out progressive, had recently hosted Mike Huckabee on her MSNBC show and hadn't pressed the GOP star regarding his crummy stance on LGBT issues. So Signroile had both Rachel and Pam on the show to has it all out. Listen in:
First up is Pam talking with Mike about the "controversy":
And now Rachel/Mike, in full. It gets heated:
Rachel sounded truly hurt. Mike sounded truly committed. All three sounded undeniably passionate. And everyone is surely better for hashing it all out.
Difficult radio. Good radio.
Rachel Maddow and Pam Spaulding Interviews [Signorile]
Audio: Rachel Maddow on Mike Signorile [PHB]
Your thoughts
Will listen later. Have to work...will wear White Knot...but must go in. Just wanted to drop this note...that I kept the neat pic of my two favorite online buds.

I think that Michael overreacted in taking Rachel's "you have your work cut out for you" as glib or lecturing. The fact is, Michael, we DO have our work cut out for us!

Okay, finally found a way to hear and see IT ALL. Jon Stewart wins by a LANDSLIDE! That was truly exceptional...except he didn't come back with the snarky remark about being 'an old man like you'..cuz the young uns 70% of them are FOR SSM! Under the comments one great one about throwing out the procreation excuse, cuz all kinds of things and even people in this world procreate without the 'benefit' of matrimony... and 'definition' gets thrown out because the basis of the law is its 'spirit' not its definition....and he did bring up that if we wanted to live biblically we would all be polygamous and not eat shrimp or wear polyester.. Good fun with the Gov of ILLINOIS though.
As for Rachel.. I am sorry, I am not a big fan...but will give her the benefit of being a novice. JS did a great job of taking apart both the govt conservative vs social conservative portions of the book. He addresses the fact that he know real people that are having their lives and loves belittled and slimed by this SOCON muck. Apparently, Rachel doesn't.

Oh forgot...I was actually shocked when I heard RM say she had asked Pam onto the show, and Pam vehemently denies ever hearing from her or her staff! Maybe she has her confused with someone else! ? !
HA!! As if .... There is no one in the world like Pam.
Now if Pam went on the Jon Stewart show! You want ratings! That would be a HOOT...
though Pam is a bit on the shy side so she might need a little JohnnyWalker boost, first. Just kidding Pam.
