Cheap 'Suitt': VA pastor calls us whiners

by Jeremy Hooper

We're not sure why this email, with the subject "Joe Solmonese," was sent to us rather than to HRC. But for whatever reason, Pastor Marvin Suitt of Forest Virginia's Living Word Baptist Church has felt the need to write to us and call us whiners:

200812191131-1

Wow, you think that most people don't like us? That's way harsh, Pastor Suitt! We will try to hold back the tears.

But here's the thing, brother: We are not "tearing down others who are not like [us]." And we are not "complaining about Rick Warren praying." What we are doing is standing in firm opposition to someone who is trying to tear us down! Lest you forget, Pastor Warren has in recent days compared our love to incest, polygamy, and pedophilia, as well as stated quite bluntly that we should not exist in any active form. If you don't want to be around us because we are "militant" enough to stand up for the "radical" idea that we are decent human beings who deserve life, love, and pursuit of happiness, then that is your prerogative. But don't you dare write us off as "spoiled kids" because we are fighting against the disgusting notion that we are, by virtue of our sexual orientations, "spoiled human beings"!!!

But thanks for writing. Oh, and happy holidays!

**UPDATE, 12/21: Pastor Suitt has done the right thing:

We accept.

Your thoughts

I called Living Word Baptist Church • 4130 Waterlick Rd., Forest, Virginia 24551 • (434) 525-7736 and asked about the email. They didn't know anything about it, so I told them to expect to get a lot of phone calls regarding this matter.

"Whining" is the new talking point. It is being used in a lot of anti-GLBT comments on blogs, etc.

"Who wants to be around people who constantly tries to tear down those not like them," he says.

Well that's the pot calling the kettle black.

Let's keep up the pressure because it is obviously getting to them.

And a derisive snort to you too, sir. Not that it's a contest, but which is more whiny: gays being pissed that they don't have civil rights in a country that loves to boast about how free and progressive it is, or Christians who complain that they are being persecuted in a country that just elected its 44th openly religious leader. If you want to know what persecution is really like, I would be happy to build a Colosseum and start starving lions. Or you could just choose to become a homosexual. You know, whatever's easier.

Christian love in action. Jesus would be so proud.

John, called the number and was hung up on.

I guess they got a lot of calls already. Or maybe because I told whomever answered the phone to tell Pastor Suitt to go fuck himself.

How do you know it was actually Pastor Suitt who sent you this email? Couldn't it have been anyone?

Jeremy, you should have closed with "Happy Kwanzukkah."

Fundamentalist dinguses HATE being called black Jews.

Jeremy: Only someone with access to his verifiable church email address, and with an IP address that matches the church's home city

I wonder why the Pastor was lurking on this site, anyways?

I bet its for that viagra ad that shows two guys embracing shirtless in bed.

This is enraging we're called whiners because we're offend by someone who says are love & lives comparable to incest, polygamy, and pedophilia.

Yet they aren’t whiners when they're offended by an Atheist ad next to a nativity scene in Washington:

http://www.onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.aspx?id=357490

I just had an exchange with Peter LaBarbera who’s irked that a GLBT marching band will perform Inaugural Parade yet he thinks we’re the intolerant ones because we’re outraged at Rick Warren invocation at the Inauguration.

This isn’t about Rick Warren being against Prop. 8 or his theological views on homosexuality – it about the words that he has used that has DEHUMANIZED every single GLBT person and their families!!!

I just cracked my keyboard because I'm so freakin' pissed!

Whoops! Wrong Address! Haha, Mr. Suitt should be more careful...

Posted by: john ozed | Dec 21, 2008 8:01:55 PM

Was his email offensive? I started reading it but he was just too whiney to finish.
