The Phyllis Nemeths of the world might just make our brains explode
This is Phyllis Nemeth, state director for the Concerned Women For America of California, demonstrating a shockingly self-centered inability to see the fight for civil marriage equality for what it truly is:
"Since the success of Proposition 8 on November 4, several people have asked me what can be done now that the opponents seem to be 'sore losers' and have taken to raucous protests outside of churches and in busy intersections."
"I believe that for both short and long-term, we need prayer and spiritual revival. Unfortunately, tolerance appears to be a 'one-way street.' Opponents seemingly do not understand that this a religious liberty issue and not a civil rights matter."
This is Jeremy Hooper, a decent gay dude who has been forced to change his plans and move his civil wedding from California to either Connecticut or Massachusetts, demonstrating how intensely fed up we gay folks are with the idea that our marriage contracts have anything to do with others' chosen religious beliefs and worshiping practices:
Uhm, Ms. Nemeth: I mean nothing personal by this but....

California Court lets marriage vote stand [CWA]
**It should also be noted that this CWA piece works under a headline that is also a complete and utter lie. The CA court hasn't necessarily let the marriage vote stand -- the matter is under review. They have yet to rule on the merits.

In the religious conservtives world view it it us versus them. They are the "chosen" In order for this to be "truth" there must be the oposite, the "unchosen" or in their view those who oppose/threaten/ridicule their world view. Any thing else threatens their position. I have always wondered why this is so. One would think that if one's personal faith/religious beliefs were solid, you would not be threatened by those with who are different from you. But in their world view there is only one right way, anything else throws their careful balance out of wack. Therefore there is only their view of things, even when it defies logic.
BTW, yes, picture is priceless!
Oh, since you will not be wedding in CA, you can now have a nice, tasteful M****a St***rt wedding beautiful CT. She might even find a new niche market.
