Here's the thing, Liz: Barack Obama has not compared loving gay couples to incestuous, polygamous, paedophilic bonds. Obama/Biden did not campaign in favor of state-level marriage bans -- they are actually OPPOSED to these. Barack Obama is not trotting out lies about how preachers will be jailed if gays are granted civil -- civil, civil, did we mention CIVIL? -- marriage equality. Rick Warren has done all these things and more!

Do we wish Obama would have come out in favor of marriage equality during the campaign? ABSOLUTELY! For one reason, it would thrill us to know that we have an actual ally in the White House. For another, it would have saved us from having to hear conservatives trot out this anti-intellectual talking point that puts Obama in the same boat with aggressive foes of LGBT equality. However, Obama has yet to come out and stand with our unions, which means we DO have an issue with Obama's stance on this matter. And we will have to continually push the president-elect to stand up for what is right and what is principled, as we have done many times in the past. But the fact of the matter is that Barack Obama's gay support is WORLDS AWAY from Rick Warren's. As mad as we might be at the Obama team, we can still say this without hesitation!
