Chico and the ban

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 22-29The Chico Peace and Justice Center, a nonprofit organization that had been offering its facilities and ordained ministers for the purposes of marriage, has announced that they will no longer be doing so. Why, the "I don't" to "I do," you ask? Well, because Proposition 8's unreasoned passage goes against both of the principles highlighted in their organizational name:

Susan Tchudi, a member of the center’s Board of Directors who often performed ceremonies, explained, “There was so much joy in marrying loving couples, both same-sex and heterosexual couples; however, I can no longer participate in a system that discriminates against a whole group of people.”

Woefully, the anti-gay side's Pleasing Just Us Center is still open and very much involved in everyone else's marriage business. There is no justice in this cruel world.

Your thoughts

No there isn't. Or what justice there is we make ourselves. So it's a tad hipocritical to expect fairness from straight society when we objectify each other and treat out less attractive brothers like dirt.
