Video: Mormons and Prop 8: A taxing problem?
The annoying thing about videos like this one is that it's so easy for social conservatives to work the "religious freedom under attack" angle and have people buy into. It's also easy and more convenient for those who don't want to deal with anything more substantive than the "American Idol" bikini girl to write it off as existing in the land of conspiracy theory. However, if you cut through all that and actually listen to the facts and consider the data, it presents a scenario that should not only concern marriage-deprived gays, but should instead concern anyone who cares about this nation's balance of church and state:
The California wound is simply not healing, and perhaps that's a good thing. If there is more to this aspect of the Prop 8 story, then we need to get to the bottom of it. Bikini girl will still be there for when we earn our deserved mental vacation.

Your thoughts
Methinks it's time to declare the mormons the new Anita Bryant.

I hope that the LDS Church feels the heavy hand of the U.S. Law with this and I hope this issue goes to court with them because they have been doing this for far far too long. It's something that needs to be corrected with every religion who tries to unduly influence politics in the name of morality.

Unfortunately, the LDS Church can hire the best lawyers money can buy.

Very well done and a provocative video. It's one of the sad ironies that the absence of state religion in the US means it's taken longer for religion in general to be discredited here than Europe. Just a detail, but perhaps your honey would let you pose in a speedo? I'm not sure I *want* bikini girl to be there for me...
