When it comes to biased personalities, AFA rolls out the mat/t

by Jeremy Hooper

Picture 6-173Mat Staver (pic.) is an omnipresent anti-gay lawyer who has gone to court against our rights more times than we care to count. The Liberty Counsel head also has a penchant for fibbery, like that time last summer when he peddled the outright lie that a gay person could enter in multiple marriages/unions in multiple states with multiple partners.

Good As You Images Good As You Images Picture-28-9 1 1-1Matt Barber (pic.) is a hyperbole-prone "culture war" personality who usually comes across less like a conservative critic and more like a schoolyard bully. His bar-lowering quotes tend to go right for the jugular, with an apparent aim of robbing LGBT people not only of their equality, but also their humanity. In fact, the reason why he caught "pro-family" attention in the first place is because a gay-decrying article that got him in trouble with his former employer, Allstate Insurance, put him on the evangelical martyr circuit.

So if you are the American Family Association, how do you react to these two men? Well, you give them their own radio show, natch:

Lynchburg, VA – Mat Staver, Founder of Liberty Counsel and Dean of the Liberty University School of Law, will host Liberty Live, a daily radio program beginning Monday, January 19, on 126 stations of American Family Radio’s new AFR Talk network. Joining Staver as a co-host is Matt Barber, Associate Dean for Career and Professional Development at the law school.

The one-hour live call-in program will air at 4:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday and will feature leading political and religious leaders, discussing topics of cultural and political interest. Sarah Seitz, Legal Director for the Liberty Center for Law & Policy in Washington, D.C., will provide a weekly update on public policy from the capital. Each program will also bring a fresh analysis of the latest news from a Christian worldview, with an open line forum and an interactive blog. The program will simulcast at AFR.net and will be available for podcast.
