What the huh?!

by Jeremy Hooper

This comes from an article posted on an anti-gay conservative site called The Collins Report (which has also been picked up by FreeRepublic):

Connecticut’s Homosexuals open a final push to destroy the Catholic Church [Collins Report]

Okay, uhm...

(a) There is no Connecticut Good As You. This site is the only American Good As You, and we are based in NYC.

(b) We would never use the word "practicing homosexuals," unless quoting someone else, making a joke, or talking about a gay baseball team's pre-game rehearsals.

(c) We haven't even discussed the issue being addressed (dealing with the legal, financial and administrative structure of Catholic churches).

(d) We had no part in any of this!

(e) We can't find record of ANY website making this quote!

So in short: This whole thing is completely made up!

Or we guess this could be some sort of an honest mistake. But right now the layers of impropriety seem startlingly deep!

**UPDATE: Okay, now we're pissed

Your thoughts

I'm wondering if there is any legal action that you can take?

If he doesn't remove it or somehow stands by it, then yes, absolutely.

Maybe it's like when The Onion moved from Madison to NYC. :)

Ohhh look, crazy Christians making up random information in order to make it look like they have any idea of what's going on/they make any sort of sense.

Quite surprising really.

Actually, Stef, in this case I really am surprised. And it has nothing to do with religion -- it has to do with the fact that in this digital age, anyone would have the gall to make something like this up.

Congratulations Jeremy!

Now you know how Patrick Letellier, Robert Garafalo, A. Nicholas Groth, Elizabeth Saewyc, Robert Spitzer, and many others felt when the religious right lied about their work.

But for the record, you are in good company.

I heard about this bill at church, the bishop sent every parish a letter... with the usual scare-tactics about abortion and marriage equality...

Every word that comes out of the mouths of these lying liars is the result of a "vision" or "dream" sequence, or their "enlightenment" by god him(her)self. And, as a result, virtually every word our of their mouths is either false, made-up or farcical respectively. You have to look at it this way, this lie is no more false than any of their other lies. And, since lying is the condiment with which they butter their bread, this should come as little surprise.

Though, I do have to admit that it is one thing for them to lie about things where the forensic evidence to refute their lies is unavailable... like in the case of a "virgin birth" resulting from god raping a betrothed child. But, that they begin to lie about things which are so easily proven to be lies... now that takes some real balls.

Absolutely outrageous.

Wow, I'm surprised they didn't delete your comment and have you permanently banned on FR.

I do believe they violated one of their precious ten commandments with this one.

"The above quote was discovered during the research for this essay. A message from someone stating he was representing the web site G.A.Y. has disputed its authenticity."

Did you see this newest lie proffered by the lying liars?

Posted by: Dick Mills | Mar 10, 2009 7:35:49 PM

Alas Jeremy, we can not only check that you didn't, we can preserve that they lied.

The wayback when machine preserves past internet.
