Most Euro conservatives are actually quite liberal when it comes to gay issues - but the eastern Europeans, well, they are a whole other bunch of dickheads who haven't evolved yet (especially the Polish lot). That is why so many Polish people (gay & straight) leave the place, now that the rest of Europe is open for them.

They may say that they are leaving for "economic" reasons - that is utter rubbish. They leave because they are fed up with the tyranny. They gave communism the boot and replaced it immediately with fundamental catholicism, so it still isn't a great place to be free of the bigots. Now that they are part of the European Community they are trailing way behind all other established Euro members.

If anything stupid has been said by a member state you can bet it was uttered in Warsaw.

That poor fuckin' elephant. What the hell is an elephant doing in Poland anyway? It sure isn't there for the climate or the cuisine. If the people need to see wild life, they should watch a nature program The Pole's of course only need to look to their government.

We in the UK will give the gay elephant (and his lover) asylum. Better still, we'll raise the money to buy a ticket for them to get back to the India/Africa savannah.
