Scenes from an unrighteous misuse of religion

by Jeremy Hooper

So far this is the only picture we've seen from today's anti-gay rally in D.C.:

And by the underlining under "Not," you know means bizness!

As they come in, we'll add all pics/video/other mediums through which one can convey condemnation. Stay tuned.

**UPDATE: Washington City Paper has coverage. They put the attendance around 150, though they note that few were actual DC residents: Anti-Gay Marriage Rally Light on District Residents [Wash City Paper]

Your thoughts

The "blood" red just screams "boiling rage", at least in a pillow-biting sorta way. So it's choice for the word "Civil" was a nice touch. But the real kicker has to be the usage of that bright blue cross (crucifix) as the 'T' in "RighTs"! Classy! Really underscores the fact that they belong to the poor and downtrodden radical religious right. But, in terms of style points, I can only give him a 3 out of 5, because (subtle innuendo aside) I'm just not feelin' a lot of oomph!

But, it does look like they managed to get 9 or ten bigots out for the big-ot parade. That is more than I would have expected.

This is a cynical ploy to divide the lgbt and African-American communities. Don't fall for it.

Alvin: and as you surely know, NOM has been among the worse in terms of dividing LGBT/African-American communities. I 've caught Maggie Gallagher interjecting that card in situations where it has absolutely no bearing:

And, speaking of race-baiting, don't forget the skeletal remains of that gaunt, blond, pointy nosed Concerned Woman that continues to echo the thoroughly debunked "70% of African American voters in CA voted for Prop H8" lie in News "debates". They all know that the actual number is closer to 58% or 59%, but they are still hoping to stir some non-existent (contrived) gays-vs-blacks controversy.

But, that doesn't mean that we can't still boycott Jamaica for tolerating anti-gay violence! No Red Stripe Beer! And no Meyers Rum! And (DAMMIT) I love Meyers Rum!

While watching the video, I had a couple of thoughts. Not so much about the guy speaking, but what was going on behind him.

First...is it just me, or does it look like there is a car just parked in the middle of the road? It's a white car, and I keep seeing vehicles pass on either side of it, so I'm guessing it's just in the middle of the street.

Second...did anybody else notice the cut right after the taxi cab pulled up? I sat here imagining that this guy (maybe a politician?) gets out of the car, looks around, sees what's going on, and jumps back in the cab yelling "Drive! For God sake I cannot be seen here!"
