Come for the figure skating, stay for the safe place to watch figure skating without judgment
The Beijing summer games had Michael Phelps. But the Vancouver winter games have an announcement that just might draw the likes of Fred Phelps:
Canadian athletes at the 2010 Winter Games will have Canada House. Russians will have Russia House. The Dutch, Holland House.
And now, gay and lesbian athletes will have Pride House.
For the first time in Olympic history, gay and lesbian athletes will have a place to go to relax and watch events, and meet friends.

So congrats, Gaylympians: You can ski the bialtholon, then go work your freestyle on a bi athlete. It's the most gay-affirming decision the winter Olympics has made since the day they instituted two-man luge an official sport!

Way to go CANADA... I have friend who moved there to be able to raise their son with dads parents, married parents and equal rights.

I wonder if this is partially a response to the controversy over the vancouver people trying to "butch up" the image of male figureskating.
