Video: The Democratic DOMA dance is increasingly out-of-step

by Jeremy Hooper

The Advocate's Kerry Eleveld asks a perfectly understandable question. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs gives an increasingly annoying non-answer:

Yea, Kerry: How dare you ask about a little thing like the federal rights of five state's gays (with six on the horizon and as many as eight or nine in the reasonable future)? You're an openly gay reporter for a gay magazine: Don't you know that this administration's spring is far more defined by joking about same-sex marriage, not actually acknowledging it? Gosh, you're so pushy! ::eye roll, head shake::

Our suggestion: Next time deck yourself out in some ratty Oliver clothing, smudge your face with some soot, then stick out a cup and give your best "Please sir, can I have some more rights?" plea. With the administration's lack of commitment to our commitments making so many of us feel like beggars, perhaps they expect us to fully commit to the role.

Your thoughts

Oh that's awesome, they've stopped giving lengthy meaningless answers. From now on when they're asked about us, they feel fully confident they can say don't know, let's move on, because absolutely nothing will happen.

I imagine we'll be relevant again sometime in 2011.

Urgh. If I had the man power, and the ability to drive, I would attempt to start a protest in Washington, like how others before us had. We'd camp out on the god dang lawn.
I wish I could do so much more, but I can't.
So, if any of you guys want to do this, please do so. <3
