While we were away: First Lady's toned arms supported husband-hugging
Activist Michael Petrelis recently brought word of this exchange, which fellow LGBT advocate Bill Wilson reportedly shared with First Lady Michelle Obama:
Bill Wilson: My husband and I have been together 23 years. We need to get rid of the Defense of Marriage Act.
Michelle Obama: I agree.
Bill Wilson: We need it done now.
Michelle Obama: It will be.
Bill Wilson: I really want to be able to support him.
Michelle Obama: As well you should!
Bill Wilson: We really do want him to succeed.
Michelle Obama: I’ll tell him.
(At this point she leaned over to give me a hug.)
As she stepped away I said, “We were married by the Mayor last year.”
Michelle Obama: Give your husband a hug from me.

DOMA overturned? Gays have good reason to support the prez? Gay husbands deserve a good, east-winged hug? We're going to be optimistic about these vows, Ms. O. Now please, go help make them a reality with the one with whom your hugs hold more power than we could ever hope to muster.
Your thoughts
You know, I believe that the Obamas genuinely support us. I believe they want to see passage of the Matthew Shepard Act, the Uniting American Families Act, the Employment Non Discrimination Act, and the overturning of DOMA and DADT.
But support is cheap and commonplace. We need leadership. Currently, there is no one in the national political theater demonstrating leadership on GLBT issues.
Instead, we just have Reid and Obama playing hot potato and making the smallest, most insignificant gestures of support.
Appointing an openly gay man to head the Office of Personnel Management, and extending minor perks to domestic partners of gay employees is not leadership. Frankly, it's not even support. It's basic good business management.

See, I keep saying, we elected the wrong OBAMA, (and the wrong Clinton and Sanford!).
