Anti-gay Clue: It's fellow conservatives' support of Mike Heath that's the real mystery

by Jeremy Hooper

We've already seen the organization try to link "urban decay" to homosexuality. But In a new post to the Maine Family Policy Council's website, a staff writer (presumably the Maine anti-equality fight's greatest liability, Mike Heath) is now trying to use one isolated, unsolved death case as an indictment against the entire LGBT community! No, we're not kidding.

The piece (and what a piece it is) is too long to post in full. But here's a snip:

Proponents of same sex marriage work hard to create the illusion that homosexual practices should be equated with marriage. Indeed, the entire propaganda campaign for same sex marriage rests on creating the misperception that the issue is all about 'family' and 'love.' But an earlier and wiser generation called such practices "deviant behavior" and they were right. Not all aspects of the homosexual lifestyle are as wholesome as an episode of "Ozzie and Harriet."

The RECORD has uncovered a story which, if widely circulated, has the potential to derail the campaign for homosexual marriage in Maine. After looking into the case of the man allegedly killed by a vocal proponent of same sex marriage, The RECORD has learned that the victim himself was a supporter of a form of violent sexual perversion.

The victim, Fred Wilson, was a twenty-one year old computer specialist from Southern California who lived alone in a spacious, comfortable home near Willard Beach in South Portland. Wilson, LaValle-Davidson, and a third man, the alleged shooter's homosexual lover, met at Wilson's home the night of Friday, April 18th. Sometime towards morning, Wilson was killed by a single shot to the head from a .44 caliber handgun. LaValle-Davidson waited until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday to call the police, allowing plenty of time for the crime scene to be altered.
...
In the eyes of their neighbors, Wilson and LaVallee were considered fine, upstanding members of the community. But there may have been a darker side to the events that Friday evening; and a picture is emerging that same sex marriage supporters may be desperate to hide. The RECORD has uncovered a document which shows that the victim, Fred Wilson, was a financial supporter of a museum dedicated to the sexual perversion of sadomasochism. In 2008, Wilson was a Supporting Member of the "Leather Archives and Museum" in Chicago. This naturally leads one to conjecture that the shooting that Friday night was related to sadomasochistic activity that got out of hand. If so, the damage to the carefully-crafted wholesome image of same sex marriage could be enormous.

South Portland Killing Jeopardizes Same Sex Marriage [MFPC]

Again, you'll have to go read the thing for yourself to get the full story. But the gist of the claims: That one isolated case, which MFPC classifies as a "murder" even gay-lineupthough the common belief on both sides seems to be that the death was accidental/unintended, threatens to derail marriage equality simply because the men involved were themselves supporters of the concept. And furthermore, because these two men were possibly involved in sexual activity that Mike Heath and Co. find out of line, then no gays anywhere should be able to get civilly married ever. Ya know, because fetishes and accidental deaths are the exclusive jurisdiction of the homo-gays [::writer rolls eyes, shakes head, accuses 'Colonel Heath, in the conservatory, with the flawed logic'::]

And once again, we must remind you: This MFPC group is not some separate entity from the larger marriage fight. They are connected with Focus on the Family/Family Research Council. In fact, it was just this past February that FRC head Tony Perkins spoke at the groups' banquet. So it's not like this is a fringe story that's detached form Maine's "people's veto." THIS is the fight. THESE are the people. THIS is how they think of us: As innately immoral beings who are linked by unsavoriness.

We must connect the dots.

Your thoughts

Wow, someone's grasping at straws for this one...

Thoroughly offensive straws, at that.

The Manson family was heterosexual, weren't they?

I have always thought that once hatred for Teh Gays became unfashionable, the sexphobics would probably turn, with glee, to the SM/fetish communities. Of course, the trouble with this is that there are vastly more heterosexuals who are kinky than queers, and they have been doing it with tangible records of their activities for far longer! I do wonder, however, whether the het kinky community will fight back, or just vanish into the safety of the closet. Organizations like the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom and the Woodhull Freedom Foundation are as small and underfunded as our gay orgs were, oh, 20, 30 years ago.

It is appalling that Mike Heath would attempt to inject a politicized interpretation of victimology. Oh, I'm sorry, a it's a "gay" murder, and Mike Heath is not a criminologist. To quote:

No, let him use these guys as an example of every gay person anywhere, just as long as my alcoholic uncle Sammy gets to be the face of all straight people.

He has to come up with something desperate to counteract the fact that so many who claim to protect the "sanctity" of marriage are heterosexual adulterers. And adultery, unlike being gay, is prohibited in the Ten Commandments.
