Court to Cap City: Recognize this, anti-gays!

by Jeremy Hooper

200907011114-1Bishop Harry Jackson and his merry band of pranksters have been denied in their attempt to stifle D.C. marriage recognition. This from The Washington Post:

A Superior Court judge decided yesterday not to delay enactment of a law stipulating that the D.C. government will recognize same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions.

Opponents, led by Bishop Harry Jackson of Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, and seven other D.C. voters want a referendum on the issue, but the D.C. elections board said that would be illegal under the District's Human Rights Act

Good news for District gays. Still-okay news for militant anti-gays, who, despite their caterwauling, will still not be affected one iota by the gays in their midst.

Lawyers with the rabidly anti-gay A Lie In Defiance of Fun Alliance Defense Fund have announced that they are seeking an appeal to have the out-of-state marriage recognition overturned, and will ultimately press for a local marriage-banning law. Lawyers for Father Time have announced that the only way the 'mo foes will ever succeed is if they can first build a machine that takes them back to 1953.

Your thoughts

Denying contractual reciprocity is wrong, even if it didn't have to do with same-sex marriage.

OK, now wait a minute.... good news, a sensible ruling for a change! Let us know when that judge is running for reelection!
