Like Jon & Kate (plus a controlled clim8)

by Jeremy Hooper

We're late getting to this because, well, we've simply been too torn up to bring you the sad news. But alas, we now must tell you: Picture 1-283Another pair of tuxedo-toned inspirations for Batman villains have decided to call it quits:

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The San Francisco Zoo’s popular same-sex penguin couple has broken up.

Male Magellan penguins Harry and Pepper have been together since 2003. The pair nested together and even incubated an egg laid by another penguin in 2008, but their relationship hit the rocks earlier this year when a female penguin, Linda, befriended Harry after her long-time companion died.

Oh Linda, you nest wrecking Jezebel! We know being a widow is tough, tough, tough. But did you have to prove that you can out-spice poor Pepper? There are plenty more flightless seabirds waddling around the sea! ::sigh::

It remains to be seen if "ex-gay" advocates will now sign Harry to an exclusive "I questioned homosexuality" ad campaign. But it might not be a bad idea, since he already lives in an environment where he's forced to swallow whatever his guiders feed him -- he could fit right in!

Your thoughts

Poor Pepper! Maybe Linda is just one of those lonely, clingy, needy hags.

Linda is a black widow! Both of her last two mates have croaked on her, and the very next day she was out shoppin' that tail around. She's bad news for Harry! Maybe he will see her for the burrow hoppin', Jezebel that she is, and come to his senses before it's too late.

Just after young tail? Oh, this is sad. Doubt threesomes are considered.

If I didn't love penguins enough for their sheer cuteness, I would love them for their bisexuality.

And yes, ex-gay advocates have used a penguin that changed lanes. Check out what Focus on the Family did about years ago:

I believe Roy and Silo (who inspired the kids' book And Tango Makes Three) split up a few years back when one found a female partner, too. Always sad when previously happy couples split up. Their daughter Tango eventually found a female partner, and Wikipedia says nothing about them splitting.

Poor Harry. That Linda is just a homewrecker...or cavewrecker...
