Mental note: Never hire Randy Thomasson to write our obituaries
We see lots of wacky things around here. Hell, we deal with Westboro Baptist Church on a direct and relatively frequent basis -- shocking us with far-right extremism is a difficult feat.
But today, we came across something from Rany Thomasson's "Save California" site (which was a big backer of Proposition 8 and currently a big opponent of honoring Harvey Milk) that appalled us even more than the time that Randy compared county clerks who have to issue marriage license to same-sex couples to Nazi officers who were forced to "gas the jews." In a new article that's either frighteningly unashamed or desperately provocative (or both), a "Save California" writer (presumably Randy) attempts to detail what killed Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson at relatively young ages. Here's a snippet -- but honestly, the full piece is far too insane to ever encapsulate, so you'll have to go to the link to get the full breadth:
Many people were shocked that Michael Jackson died at age 50 and Farah Fawcett at age 62. But modern medicine could not have prevented what these celebrities did to themselves. It was Jackson's and Fawcett's own behavior that led to their relatively short lives.
This sober truth should serve as a warning to young people: don't get hooked on prescription drugs or other artificial substances, don't engage in sexual activity before marriage, don't get your value from the attention that people lavish upon you, etc.

• [Michael Jackson] was reportedly a homosexual who dated men, in addition to his pedophile-like behavior of "sleeping" with boys.

For all his weirdness, emotional immaturity, pedophile-like activity, homosexuality, crotch-grabbing dance moves, and nightmares, I wonder if Michael Jackson had been molested as a child to set him on this disastrous course.

The legacy of Farah (sic) Fawcett is as a sexy pin-up. She taught girls and young women to look like her to get more attention from men, and taught millions of boys and young men to lust after women who looked like her. She leaves the world a more sex-saturated place. Her death is another sad example of the high price of "free sex."

Geez, Randy: You do know that RIP is meant to be an initialism, right?
But perhaps we should be thanking your organization. It would seem to be the sort of unabashed extremism that just might lead to the early passing of your anti-progressive, anti-gay, anti-tolerance agenda.

Yeah it could be that that killed them, OR, it could be what the autopsy finds in a week or so. my money is on the autopsy

Wow. That's not just insane, it's also rock-stupid. Neither one of them died from a sexually transmitted disease, so there's no connection between their deaths and their private sexual lives. Thomasson clearly doesn't know knows much about them-he seems unaware that Jackson was married twice, or that Fawcett was in a mongamous relationship for 25 years.
I find his comments about Farrah particularly insulting. This is a woman who made a genuine effort to rise above her own sex-symbol status, and spent the final months of her life putting a human face on a terrible illness.
I can't bring myself to read more than the parts you posted-does it get stupider?

Another interesting point is that these are the same people who rage against the HPV vaccine -- yet here they are blaming HPV for killing Farrah.

How can Randy be trusted to write obits when he can't even spell the name right? It's F-a-r-R-a-h.
Or maybe he was so busy thinking of insults he couldn't be bothered to fact-check.

It was uncalled for as well as nasty for him to write such ugly words. This is why Christianity is getting such a bad rap. It's "defenders" are full of so much self-righteousness.

Where does this guy get his gossip from? I don't recall there ever being any rumors of M.J. dating men - pedophile-like behavior yes/maybe.

Who does Randy think are the biggest fans of beauty pageants? What sort of parents push their two-year olds into soft-core kiddie porn when they enter them in beauty contests. CHRISTIANS!!!
I've watched a number of HBO and other documentaries on these kiddie-porn pageants and there is one common thread that runs through all of them - the parents are always praying in Jesus Christ's name that little Kylie or Christina or Becky wins.
Isn't Miss Jugs-for-Jesus a Christian? Didn't they all run to her side when she was being picked on by the big, bad Gays?

Anti-gay activist Thomasson certainly doesn't let "traditional values" like "don't speak ill of the dead" get in his way. The good news is this kind of indecent, cruel, holier than thou, wicked reviling of the dead (and living) is what's pushing so many people away from the anti-gay agenda promoted by folks like Thomasson.
