Audio: Hey Alaska: Discrimination will always Palin comparison!
Q: What sort of rhetoric persuaded Anchorage, AK, Mayor Dan Sullivan to veto an LGBT-inclusive non-discrimination ordinance?
A: Rhetoric like the following, in which grown adults quite proudly decry the "abomination" that is the "homosexual lifestyle," while disjointedly denying that anti-LGBT discrimination is even a problem in their city:

Fears about restrooms. Continued lies about the Ocean Grove, New Jersey situation. The usage of personal interpretations of Leviticus. All to deny others of their civil protections.
This is happening in America in 2009, folks. What are you going to do to help us end this human rights problem?
***TAKE ACTION: If one of the four opposing members of the Assembly changes their vote in the next 21 days, they can override the mayor's veto. So it might be a good idea for us to remind them of the kinds of lies and affronts that led to the mayor's veto (see more here). The four "no" voters (Debbie Ossiander, Chris Birch, Bill Starr and Dan Coffey) can be reached at: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]
Your thoughts
A very similar story is going on in Nashville right now. The city council is set to vote on an anti-discrimination ordinance tonight. Councilman Robert Duvall wrote a guest editorial in The Tennessean which follows the CWA format. Per Mr Duvall, the ordinance is an attempt to rewrite the federal and state constitutions and a "smack in the face" to the civil rights movement. He refers to homosexuality as a "perversion" and a "sordid behavior" which will, of course, be foisted upon innocent children. He closes with the obligatory attempt to make nice with this little gem "we absolutely do not want to discriminate or ridicule any person for any reason."
And people ask me why I left Tennessee for California.

Certainly, Alaskans do live in the dark. Once again, the this is to force people to accept that it's an ok lifestyle.
What's an abomination and disgrace is that an idiot clinging on to myths and superstition should be allowed to hold the title of Doctor.

No Owen, actually this time of year ANCHORAGE is in the LIGHT... literally, both Sun and Moon: are up 15.5 hours a day.
Sunrise: 6:17am
Sunset: 9:48pm
Moonrise: 5:16am
Moonset: 9:13pm
None of it reaches the dark spaces of these peoples souls, however.
