Audio: Steven laid bare

by Jeremy Hooper

Stephen-Anderson-BaptistSince our initial post on Steven "I pray for Barack Obama to die" Anderson has conjured up so much attention, we thought we'd dig through the Arizona Baptist preacher's considerable archives to see what other bits o' godly "charm" we could find. We'll post them here as they come in:

**Oh, and by the way: He who said he prays for Barack Obama to die was recently called on to speak at his local TEA Party:

Scratch that: he actually spoke at two different TEA parties! The above was in Gilbert, AZ. this one is from the July 4th event in Phoenix:

**MORE, MORE, MORE: You know that Obama protester who recently made national news when he showed up at a presidential event while carrying a gun? Yea, well: Gun-toting Arizona protester belongs to hate-mongering pastor's flock [Crooks & Liars]

Your thoughts

And we thought that Phelps was over the top. I did read something about this supremacist becoming a "friend" of the WBC.. whatever becoming a "friend" means?? Maybe that's a facebook thing?? It will shock the piss out of me if he doesn't end up in a federal lockup for conspiracy (or worse).

I wonder how many assault rifles he has? And how much ammunition he has stockpiled? You can't spell wacko without "Waco"...

"and that's just what I know off the top of my head, and I don't even know about this stuff"

ummm, I'm gonna have to disagree. It sounds like you've been doing some research that borders on the obsessive-compulsive side.

paging Ted Haggard.....

This guy is the religious right's worst nightmare - someone who preaches like this - advocating violence and death - it is a "pastor" like this, advocating these horrors against people, who should should get life in prison right along with their impressionable (foolish) followers who think they are doing God's work murdering people!

Posted by: tom | Aug 25, 2009 1:28:04 PM

Now he's pounding the bible and saying this is the perfect law - yeah, right, it would be if it was written by GOD - it was written by men - men like pastor (that leaves such a bad taste in my mouth to call him that) anderson who thought they could scare the population of the world with spooks and a HORRIBLE MONSTER they call god!

Posted by: tom | Aug 25, 2009 1:31:51 PM

ok, I took a look around his website. I didn't watch any of his videos, but I haven't seen any pictures of his "congregation" nor have I seen just how many people attend this church.

I did notice that there is a directory of churches, assumed to hold similar views, and it is a list that is nearly nationwide. I noticed 2 churches in my area. I'm thinking that I should contact them about their connection to this particular ranting non-pastor.

Wasn't Glitter's thing underage girls? And I never heard of a child pornography link with Jackson?? Nor did I hear of Jackson having any homo-pornography.. I only heard about the straight porno?? This guy is not only obsessed, but he apparently has a vivid (pantingly hopeful 'til the moment of climax) imagination.

"If I were king .. death to anyone I consider to be perverts .. "

Seems like he bares a striking resemblance to your email pen-pal from a few days ago...

Posted by: Dick Mills | Aug 25, 2009 1:50:21 PM

"I wish I could put a rifle in your hands, and send you out after the real enemies... these bunch of sodomites..."

That really sums him up! And, is that his brood of little Aryans giggling when he talks about shooting queers? They sound like fawning little girls, but I would suspect that prepubescent Nazi Youth probably sound like that too.

Posted by: Dick Mills | Aug 25, 2009 2:20:42 PM

I'm afraid he knows just a little bit too much about our lifestyle - he protests too much - not secure in his manhood - I think he's a bigger queer than I am! It's always those kind - - and he does like to talk about little boys!

Posted by: tom | Aug 25, 2009 2:32:18 PM

This guy is a total nutcase idiot.

Posted by: chris | Aug 25, 2009 2:32:53 PM

Okay - this last bit - he sounds like a queer, he certainly spent a lot of time looking at those he accuses of being queers in Tuscon; what bible does this a@@hole have - "God said men should have short hair" - what about Jesus? what about Sampson, Noah, Moses - - you get the picture. He said men should be hard - I bet this perv was hard all the time he was in Tuscon AND I bet he's had more than his share of "short hairs" - what a hypocrite! I swear this freak puts Fred Phelps to shame.

Posted by: tom | Aug 25, 2009 2:42:33 PM

Oh goody...

Another Fred Phelps in the making. How long will it be till the protests start?

Posted by: KZ | Aug 25, 2009 2:51:30 PM

One of his claims: "the bible says be a man...cut your hair". Some preacher! In the same bible book that nutjobs like this use to denounce gay people, it clearly says DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR! If I went to church, I would want a preacher who actually read the damn book his claims to love so much!

Personally, I think this guy's going to be shot in the face on day.

Posted by: John S | Aug 25, 2009 3:17:28 PM

I love how he repeatedly acknowledges that he's not familiar with pop culture, then goes on to declare authoritatively that this band and that TV show are promoting a "gay agenda." Hey, I've never seen Party of Five, don't know it at all, but it's about lesbians, and you can take my word for it!

I can't even be offended by this guy--he's just too loony! He even manages to make Fred Phelps sound sane...something I never, ever thought I'd say.

Posted by: Rachel Snyder | Aug 25, 2009 4:05:47 PM

I left my first comment before watching that video, and now I'm just baffled. How can someone who rails against supposed instances of "cruel and unusual punishment" support instituting the DEATH PENALTY for gays? And he thinks people should vote LIBERTARIAN?? The very party founded on the idea that you should be free to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't harm others? I can't figure out this guy's thinking at all. Which is probably a good thing.

Posted by: Rachel Snyder | Aug 25, 2009 4:21:15 PM

Wait? Battlefield Earth? Can we please hear the rest of that? Cause I'd love to hear about puny man-animals being gay or whatever. Also, Harry Shearer isn't gay. He's married.

Was he joking about being shocked that Lance Bass was gay?
And don't even get me started about AC/DC or the whole "the singer Pink Floyd" thing.

"I don't believe in sharing?" Thought Jesus was pretty much all about sharing. Also, I don't know the shop, but if ever there was a store name that screamed "We cater to gay men" that name would be Dickies.

Do you have the clip where he tries to prove that Schwarzenegger is gay? Cause that sounds... interesting.

Fun fact about "death penalty for rape": there would also be a death penalty for rape victims, as long as they were engaged virgins and the rape took place inside a city (Deuteronomy 22:23-24)

I'm wearing a pink shirt today. I don't feel less manly.

And if this guy really wants us to follow all 613 laws in the OT, he might want to make sure he doesn't shave his temples or the sides of his beard or that his shirts aren't poly-cotton blends.

Posted by: Brian | Aug 25, 2009 5:53:23 PM

This guy is such a closet case.

He's cute too :-D

Posted by: lol internet | Aug 25, 2009 7:29:48 PM

Wait, so he goes to the mall and expects NOT to see hipster mall rats in skinny jeans?

Posted by: BISH HOLD UP | Aug 25, 2009 7:35:37 PM

Anderson makes Sally Kern of Oklahoma sound like a novice.

Religion needs to keep its bloody hands off--and its bloody history OUT--of civil law; this includes the private lives of consenting adults who are entitled to the full protection and benefits of the laws, without regard to the gender of those adults. The 1st and 14th Amendments say nothing about religious dogma and superstition other than to say no law shall respect an establishment of religion.

Why should restrictive Catholic and Mormon dogma trump that of the permissive Unitarians and Congregationalists in regard to marriage equality? Otherwise all of us are committed to being unofficial members of these bronze age tribes.

Gays and lesbians pay taxes, hold jobs, make responsible decisions, and contribute to society. They are paying first-class taxes and receiving second-class tickets.

Ok, normally I don't have the stomach for this kind of stuff, and watching/listening to it just makes me really angry and sad. But this made me laugh out loud! Almost to the point of tears. I don't know, I've put some of this stuff on repeat, and it's made my whole day better. He could be parodying himself and I wouldn't know it... it's like comedic gold? Is it terrible that I think that? I don't know, this has seriously just cheered me up, though. lol, thanks!

ps. I really just want to hug him and tell him it'll be alright.

"BIG GOVERNMENT IS THE ENEMY!!!!"

Apparently, except when it comes to equal rights for LGBT people. Then he wants death to all queers, enforced by the state. I hope this guy gets outed; he realy looks and sound like a self-loathing closet case. Go to his youtube channel, http://www.youtube.com/sanderson1611 and watch hi video, "New York City Promotes Sodomy (Homosexuality)." A laugh riot.

BTW he's got a nice package. ;-)
