Gay for play: Hollywood stars to emote for a good cause
Debra Messing, Jason Alexander, Hamish Linklater, Eric McCormack, Timothy Olyphant, Dan Futterman, Zachary Quinto and Robert Gant. Those are just some of the names who will soon take to the stage of North Hollywood's El Portal Theatre for a benefit reading of some marriage equality-themed plays:
The Attic Theatre will present Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays — a staged reading benefiting the Human Rights Campaign in response to the recent ruling on Proposition 8 in California — Sept. 12 at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.

The playwrights represented in Standing on Ceremony include Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Constance Congdon, Marcus Gardley, Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Albert Innaurato, Christopher Kyle, Wendy MacLeod, Terrence McNally, Susan Miller, Kira Obolensky and Jose Rivera.

A nice effort. One that will hopefully help us shorten the costly, wasteful intermission known as Prop 8, so that we can get back on the pages of equality's inevitable script.

Yes, how depressing. Tolerance? Respect for human beings? A lack of bigotry? How dare he! Props to all of them! Wish I could be there.

Okay, I hate to sound like some oversensitive prat defending this thing on repeat, but I hate "where were you _____" attitudes. For all you know, these people were fighting Prop 8 a lot before it passed. It's a response. It's an expression of anger. Have you not complained about Prop 8 passing? You aren't better than anyone else.
