The Chasers - Do Americans Agree That Bible is True? [YT]
(H/t: Dick Mills)
Your thoughts
The issue is that most people who say the Bible is true are also the same people who have never read the entire book.
Those that have read the entire book, myself included, consider it absolute bunk.

Wow.......hilarious, and so true. Most professing christians are like this because they cannot reconcile the barbaric bible verses with the tamer verses. To do so would require thinking and an honest crisis of faith because of the draconian laws clearly made up by middle eastern men. pathetic.

Oh, that is so funny!
Were these the guys who sent a reporter to a protest by the Westboro Baptist Church, and the guy ended up flirting with Shirley Phelps-Roper's husband, telling him what a great butt he had?

nikkon, I am actually more of the opinion that those draconian laws were made up by middle eastern women. What man (heterosexual or otherwise) would ever suggest (let alone codify into law) a punishment of death for adultery. That had to be coming (at least most substantially) from a scorned wife's nagging. Or, the ten female BFFs of the scorned wife withholding the goodies from their husbands until they agreed.
Also, the fact that they generally ignored the infraction committed by the male counterpart to the "adultery", and stoned the woman.. This is particularly evident in the story of the woman who was "caught in the act," and brought before Jesus while the crowd stood around picking up rocks - the man wasn't even mentioned in the myth. Men protecting their property, would have always gone after the male "adulterer".
One of the best religious jokes that I've heard revolved around that story, where Jesus told the crowd, "let him among you that is without sin, cast the first stone." After a couple of seconds, a little woman picked up a rock, and threw it at the accused woman. Then all of the others threw their rocks, killing the woman. After the crowd left, Jesus finally looked up from his stick-in-dirt-writing, looked at the woman who threw the first stone and said, "Mother, sometimes you really piss me off!"

I have read the whole thing, Tony, and I don't consider it absolute bunk. However, I do consider it a very difficult book to understand.
Nikkon, I don't think most Christians are like this - just the loud ones, unfortunately. And it's one of the reasons I fight for lgbt rights. I take it very personally when I see my religion twisted into a weapon that hurts people.
I live in a very conservative area, but have met a number of open-minded and quietly supportive Christians.
Dick, the reason men didn't protect their "property" is because they did not value it. Some men still use the Bible as an excuse to treat women like crap, too.
Thanks for the video, guys. It's hilarious!
Ranks right up there with this:

What's there to understand in the bible? Just a bunch of myths (most likely stolen from pagan cultures) laden with supremacist propaganda, outdated codes of conduct, and factual errors.
