Crawling thru Stand For Marriage Maine's open window

by Jeremy Hooper

Stand For Marriage Maine has blocked the ratings and comments from all of their YouTube videos. Except one. And that one remaining open forum shows why shutting out dissent is in our opposition's best interest:

And the same thing is happening on their Facebook page, where firm but fair pro-equality comments greatly outweigh the homo-hostile arguments.

When they allow their fight to be a dialogue rather than a monologue, they lose. And not because the mean, nasty gays will attack them with "hate" as they typically claim). By and large, it's because fair-minded folks of all stripes will take the opportunity to use these open forums to belie the fallacies that support their discriminatory movement.

Our side welcomes scrutiny because it gives us the chance to elucidate our goals, arguments, and constitutional backing. The other side shuns scrutiny because it forces them to do the same!

Your thoughts

If youtube wants to make money they should charge for the service of blocking video ratings and video comments/text comments.
