He wishes brain cancer on us; we ponder if that form of cancer would even be possible for him

by Jeremy Hooper

More from our ol' poker buddy Steven L. Anderson, courtesy of G-A-Y friend and gay rockstar Michelangelo Signorile:

Steven L. Anderson: Killing Gays is Not Murder [Signorile]

This man has been in the public spotlight for a few weeks now. Has Focus on the Family condemned him? Has Peter LaBarbera? Has the Family Research Council? Has NOM? The answer: No, none of them have.

Now ask yourself what would happen if this was a gay activist wishing for the execution of all Christians. Not only would the evangelicals (rightfully) be up in arms, but we can guarantee you that ever single gay and progressive outlet on the face of the planet would be among the first to condemn the rhetoric! We would want to get to it early and often, making it perfectly clear that this person and their brand of activism does not speak for us. It would be a rare moment of coming together, when we could join our community's organized opposition in roundly denouncing the insane rhetoric.

But even though Steven's rhetoric (which many first learned about on this very site) has made its way to every kind of outlet under the sun, those who work against gays have seen no need to acknowledge it. We know they monitor our work, so they are surely aware of it. But rather than join us, they have left us to fend for ourselves. They have left to us to figure out how, even though they regularly present their Jesus as detesting gay relationships, their godly vision is in no way the same as Steven's extremist one.

We just don't get it. Where are those who should be denouncing this the most?!?!

Your thoughts

Notice how Signorile doesn't miss a beat when Anderson hangs up on him? I don't know how he kept his cool for over 7 and a half minutes, but kudos to him!

Just sayin'. ;-)

I posted this at BTB, but I thought it would be appropriate here:

Analyzing this situation is easy.

If a *gay* pastor called for the death of Pat Robertson or Rick Warren on a few YouTube videos, the Christian press would be all over it. ALL over it. WorldNetDaily and OneNewsNow would be cranking out stories for weeks about this.

However, this pastor calls for the death of the President as well as gays everywhere–not just on YouTube, but on numerous TV and radio interviews (and even gets coverage on CNN), and what do we hear from Christian leaders or the Christian press?

Nothing. Crickets.

I’m surprised Michael Brown hasn’t taken the opportunity to pimp himself by issuing a public condemnation of Anderson, but it’s likely because, on a practical level, their positions are the same. “I don’t know why you don’t understand my use of violent rhetoric in condemning gay activism… this is spiritual warfare we’re in.”

Both men use the *exact* same argument. And because Michael Brown uses extremist Peter LaBarbera as a “reference” on his Coalition of Conscience website, he likely also believes, like Anderson, that gays molest children at a higher rate. (Even though it’s not true.)

No wonder Brown has been silent. And then he can’t understand why we view his “kinder and gentler” approach as utterly disingenuous and self-serving.

At least Anderson doesn’t hide his hatred for us under a thin veneer. He just lays it out there.

I would suspect that the reason that none of the other rabidly anti-gay organizations haven't condemned him is because they know that their rhetoric stirs up the very same emotions in those who listen to them, and they don't want to piss off their supporters by effectively condemning them. It's not like they are running for office, and need to appease the majority, they need to strike a chord with their supporters - and as long Anderson doesn't go on a murdering rampage, I would predict, that they won't say a word about him. After all, he is saying the same thing that they are, he's just taking it to it's eventual and obvious conclusion.

This man already has brain cancer. It is in the form of delusional worship of jewish writings.

Countdown to Steven Anderson being outed in 5...4...3...2...

My family history suggests I'll have a stroke instead of brain cancer, so I'm afraid I'll have to dissapoint him.

I see two possible explanations for why they aren't publicly denouncing Anderson:
1. They secretly AGREE with everything he says.
2. More likely, the know that he's oof-the-charts cocobananas, but if they admitted that, they'd have to also admit that they don't take the Bible as literally as he does. And once they admit that, they'll have to admit that People Who Don't Agree With Them (such as LGBT folk) are also free to interpret the Bible as they wish.
And THAT would mean they'd have to admit they're just using the Bible as an excuse for their homophobia because it's convenient.

Bill S. hit the nail on it's head.

This man is an embarrassment to all decent Christians everywhere. As a Christian gay man, I rebuke him in the name of Christ. Homophobia is a sin like lying, stealing and murder. Therefore, a homophobic Christian is an oxymoron.

Sounds to me like Stevie already HAS brain cancer.

Michael, I think you can drop the "oxy" from your description of Anderson.
