Geez, what did we ever do to Calvary Chapel?!?
-Charla Bansley teaches at a private, Christian school called Calvary Chapel. She starred in a "Yes on 1" ad, acting as if she was a public school teacher with civil concerns.
-Jen Cyr teaches at a private, Christian school called Calvary Chapel. She starred in a "Yes on 1" ad, acting as if she was a public school teacher with civil concerns.
-Ken Graves preaches at a Christian church called Calvary Chapel. He stars in a "Yes on 1" web ad, acting as if he is a mere layman with uncivil concerns about our families and our very role within nature:
Which all really leads to only one question: Do we think Calvary Chapel would be a good place to get gay-married once we win on November 3rd?
Your thoughts
Obviously being a response to the "Who's in a Family" book, are they *trying* to alienate the majority of the population? They are pretty much sending the message in this video that any house where kids are being raised by aunts and/or uncles, or guardians, or grandparents, or step-parents, or single moms or dads, etc., don't qualify as a family.

After reading quickly first I thought, "Wow, they have gone really cheap with their commercials now, are they running out of money?" Then after reading it again, I realized that it was only a WEB ad.
Thanks alot, Jeremy. You got my hopes up for nothing. :-P

This ad is a direct attack against every single parent, every family in which a child is raised by a close relative or grandparent, every family with step-parents, every adoptive family.
But they probably think that those *are* acceptable familial arrangements, which means that they don't believe their own argument, and will only spew that bullshit insofar as gays are concerned. What a bunch of pricks.

Silly Creationist using nature for an argument about family. When the praying mantis eats the husband is that a good example of a mother's emasculation of her husband or that he isn't necessary? Gay penguins, gay monkeys, gay pretty much anything... And actually if you look at the history of marriage you find that same sex people had been married before. And that marriage is a social contract. Also, that I guess if we were to use history I would need a dowry and my wife would become my property... and we wouldn't be mixing tribes...

"Do we think Calvary Chapel would be a good place to get gay-married once we win on November 3rd?"
I could honestly see them using this as proof that we're gonna force their church to marry gay people.

As a Calvary Chapel survivor (believe me I'm glad to be off *that* island), let me say:
Ugh.

Their use of a mallard pair to illustrate the glories of heterosexual pair bonding made my irony meter asplode. Mallards pair bond seasonally, with the pair typically breaking up sometime during the egg incubation process (nest constructed and maintained by the female alone). Although multi-year pair bonds have been observed in nature, these are very rare among mallards. Further, participation in a pair bond in no way decreases the male mallard's participation in extra-pair forced copulation (male mallards often engage in forced copulation). But then, this is some of that high-falutin' elitist thought known as 'science' (or to some of us, 'reality'). Or maybe this really is the ideal marriage pattern of Calvary Chapel...

Thats so gay bruno, not church surving God will marry homosexuals , better stick to the false ones. Those churches that allow active homosexuals to hold office in them, (no Real *) church would allow what the bible declares an obamanation to God to marry or hold a seat of authory while still practicing sin. Please note the (Real*) church clause in this post.

Sounds like God would really like to have a long talk with you.....this is not an attack on single parents, don't put words into the mans mouth. Not an attack on grandparents either- grandmothers and grandfathers often take the role of mother and father.
The purpose of a mallard pair as you called it is to show that there needs to be a female and a male to produce life...your looking at a water foul booty call is irrelevant, the point is that homosexuality is an abomination to God-meaning, against God's created order of things- and by the way, you too were created by God even if you hate His will. Don't take it out us who are trying to inform you of the choices you are making are leading you to an eternity in hell, go rant and rave to God-I know he would love to have a chat with you.
