'Oh please don't arrest us," says group that TOTALLY wants to get arrested

by Jeremy Hooper

The so-called Christian Anti-Defamation Commission has revealed more plans for their upcoming protest of LGBT-inclusive hate crimes protections:

On November 16th, CADC, along with other pro-family leaders and ministers, will go to Washington DC for a Rally for Religious Freedom. It will occur immediately in front of the Department of Justice.

Ministers, from various denominations, will preach the truth of the Word of God, especially the “politically incorrect” truth of the sin of homosexuality! We will challenge U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to charge this group of peacefully assembled clergy with a hate crime for simply preaching the Bible.

We will clearly establishing that this law cannot and will not silence God’s servants. We will continue to declare the whole counsel of God both publicly and in our pulpits. If we are arrested, we challenge the law in court.
Help Us Challenge New Hate Crimes Law [CADC]

So wait, they're going to dare the DOJ to arrest them for speech, something that the hate crimes bill in no way addresses? Wow, what next: Is CADC gonna recruit some vampires to protest human health care reform? Maybe gonna taunt the Martian police department to arrest you for protesting the administration's earthly environmental policies? Or perhaps they're planning to fault Kathie Lee Gifford' s 1980's Carnival Cruise Line commercials for opening the floodgates for undocumented workers? Because honestly, each of those tactics would be about as apropos as is the decision to target a law that SPECIFICALLY DISTANCES ITSELF FROM SPEECH by citing the right to freely assemble/speak!

Will someone from their side get arrested? If they violate a law, perhaps. But it won't be for speaking, unless they break some sort of sound code. And it wont be because hate crimes laws are on the books, unless they break some sort of body part.

Your thoughts

Until the day Fred Phelps is lead away in handcuffs anyone saying these laws affect free speech is a LIAR.

Theirs two possible outcomes here:
1. nothing happens and they quietly stop mentioning their experiment while continuing to claim it will lead to arrests thjey know firsthand don't happen.

2. one of them actually breaks the law by calling for violence against homosexuals, the bigots conveniently forget to mention his explicit calls for violence in a billion press releases defending him.

Here's hoping for the former, wackadoodle. Even if they ignore what happens from then on, it'll lend ammo for our side. I'm hopeful this stunt will be a boon to our side. :)

Do these people actually think SPEAKING against homosexuality is a hate crime?! They'll no doubt get arrested for something and then spin it as they were fired for saying gay is wrong! So damn transparent!

Just read CADC website and I love the fact that he's asking for a donation - These groups don't want us to go away - if we did most of them would be out of business!

Bearchewtoy75: Yup. Exactly what happened in Philadelphia a few years back.

I agree Jeremy. The more hateful the words that these "Christians" spew, the better to show America what intolerant hatemongers they really are. This will be fun to watch!

"We will clearly establishing..."

These guys should have stuck it out until they graduated from high school, or at least should take some remedial English classes before they write things that will be published. But, then again, when discussing these morons, it's a given that you need to lower the expectations-bar.

First off:

--- We will challenge U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to charge this group of peacefully assembled clergy with a hate crime for simply preaching the Bible.

They know that what they are challenging is not a hate crime and they know that getting arrested for anything - even a slight such as 'disturbing the peace' - would give them the ammunition they need to gain more 'coverts to their cause' against the bill or anything dealing with gays. That is what they want; however, even if they are not arrested then they are ready to proclaim that:

--- We will clearly establishing that this law cannot and will not silence God’s servants...

And declare a victory nonetheless. That their religion would overcome whatever it is they think is so evil about government or gays these days.

This is nothing more than a publicity stunt.
