The true iniquity behind a 'yes on 1' vote
Need more reason to volunteer for a Maine Get Out the Vote shift, or to get on the phone from wherever you are and place a few GOTV calls? Well just look at this nugget from our Maine opposition:
The same forces which support homosexual marriage have given us a society plagued by social disorder. To the long list of social disruptions -- the breakdown of the family, rampant crime, and the highest incarceration rate in the world -- the liberal establishment now asks us to add the absurdity of homosexual marriage. Homosexual marriage will only further destabilize a gravely wounded society.
Further, the opponents of same sex marriage do not view homosexual 'marriage' as merely an ill-advised social policy, they view it as a mistake which threatens the further existence of society; and for this reason, they will make heroic efforts to see it defeated.
All this points to the certain defeat of gay marriage, if not now, then in the near future. If we win today, we must not be too elated. If we lose, we will not be cast down. With either outcome, we must steel ourselves for a protracted battle. It is a battle we will inevitably win, because truth is on our side, and time as well.

Yes, that's right: Our lives and loves are some sort of "experiment" to these sillies. And they vow to shut down our lab, no matter the cost.
Oh, and if you go click the link to read the full piece (and what "a piece" it is), you'll see that the Maine Family Policy Council's one criticism of the "yes" campaign is that it didn't use the BIble enough! The Christian Bible. To take on a fully civil matter. In a church-state separated, non-theocratic nation.
These are stakes, folks. So again: If you are in Maine, get out on the streets and help. If you're anywhere else, get on the phone and GET OUT THE VOTE, and on the Interwebs to sent whatever kinds of digital smoke signals might help get the job done! We have to win this. For Maine. For fairness. For our very existences.

I suppose that these people who think that we are perpetrating some kind of science experiment never heard of Alexander the Great, Hadrian, Edgar Hoover, Oscar Wilde, Abraham Lincoln, Leonardo da Vinci, Tallulah Bankhead, Rita Mae Brown, David Bowie, Lord Byron, Mary Cheney, Van Cliburn, Quentin Crisp, Filipa de Souza, Portia de Rossi, Isadora Duncan, Christian Dior, Michael Guest, Allen Ginsberg, Langston Hughes, Alfred Kinsey, etc. etc. etc. What they are doing is experimenting with our Constitutional rights and that's an abomination.
