Audio: 'Ask/Tell's most dishonorable discharges just might come from Pete's mouth
-An arrogant slamming of Europe.
-The ridiculous suggestion that heterosexual soldiers will be the ones to be punished if a gay soldier makes an unwanted sexual advance.
-The belief that Defense secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff chair Adm. Mike Mullen should resign for the sole reason that they support DADT repeal.
-The usage of fetish porn to legitimize anti-gay "concerns."
It's just another day in the bizarre career of one Peter LaBarbera:
*Audio source: Penna Dexter's "Point of View" radio program, 2/3/10 (full podcast can be downloaded for free on iTunes)
We just hope Pete doesn't Google "pizza boy porn." We'd hate to see gays banned from that job as well.
Your thoughts
Pete's packin' a serious lisp. (I really have no interetht in America's armed forces being like Canadath... etc.) Overcompensation? Did he get beat up a few times in his formative years? I could 'almost' feel bad for him.

It was nice of them to remember to suggest that we're also pedophiles as the host adds, "kinda like the boys scouts," to the end of this bit following Pete's suggestion that gay people join the military because, "that's where the guys are."

@Sam: The host is Penna Dexter, who is right alongside Peter in terms of willfully misinformative activism.
I should also note that this is the same program that I clipped yesterday. The one on which Maggie Gallagher said our marriages are akin to interracial marriage bans, and Linda Harvey said gays should have nothing at all b/c we are "abominations":
I have some more clips featuring Matt Barber (who, along with Elaine Donnelly, guested on the same show as Pete). But as of now, I don't have the stomach to post them.

Jeremy, remember your mad lib thing a few weeks ago? You ought to put together a gay porn one for this guy!
He really does just say the same things over and over, sometimes in a different order...

This is going to sound awful, but you know what Pete and Maggie and Matt and all the rest keep reminding me of?
A couple years ago, I had the opportunity to watch a full-time therapist working with an autistic child, and if you know anything about speech therapy with autistic kids, you know that they'll often fixate on one statement and repeat it over and over and over again, because their brains sort of get stuck. I'm describing it very unscientifically, because I'm not an autism expert by any means, but I watched as the therapist would gently respond over and over again "No, you just said that. Say something better."
Of course, the autistic children seem to be teachable in many cases, unlike Religious Right activists who seem eternally stuck in the same brainspace with no hope of ever going forward.
But yeah. Those are the words that always come to mind when I hear Peter and Matt talk: No, you just said that. We rebutted it, thoroughly, forty times in the past year. Say something better."

has any lgbt organization confronted Penna? has there been a protest organized outside the radio station that produces her program? Is anyone confronting her directly and in person?

I don't understand how these bigots can sleep at night knowing their bigotry is killing us all. They deserve no respect, no rebuttals, and should be ignored. We need to stop debating them and just put our own scientifically proven facts out there and ask the public to choose. Do you want to live in a religion based theocracy or do you want to live in an enlightened era of science? Make your choice. We need to make a line and have them cross it. I am tired of all their bullshit. If the Boies/Olson case isn't decided in our favor at the SCOTUS, I'm packing up and going to Lisbon or Vancouver, I do not want to deal with the religious nutbags and ignorant uneducated bigots any longer.

Peter mentions his Google search of "gay military porn" brought up "hundreds of thousands" of results. I just did my own Google search to supplement his...
Google results for:
"Gay Military Porn" = 683,000
"Straight Military Porn" = 9,490,000

Michael: As part of my own research, I once conducted a search for a military porn banner image that Pete was running (and still sometimes runs) on his site. It took me half an hour to find it. And the only place I could, was on a link farm called "gay pervs":

He sure conducts thorough "research," that Pete.

If you search for "military porn" by itself, you come up with "about 26,700,000 for military porn. (0.50 seconds)". So if only 683,000 of them are "gay military porn", that works out to 2.558% of them are of the "gay" variety. And, that probably means that a lot more straight men (and women) in the service are people! None of Pete's nonsense means anything other than the blathering of a blithering idiot.
One of my bosses, several years ago, was constantly remarking that he felt like he was losing his mind. He always laughed when he said it, so I think he thought it was self-deprecating humor. But it always seemed a bit annoying to me, so one day he phrased it as if it was a question, so I answered him by saying, "Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's the result of an unchecked case of syphilis." Long story short, he never again asked me if he was going senile, and about a week later, he made a point of saying that his physician had given him a clean bill of health. So, my comment appeared to have landed on a soft spot.
I seriously suspect that Pete needs to see his physician (or psychoanalyst) as well. If for no other reason than to put his mind at ease. If he goes down that path, I surely hope that he has health insurance...
