Maggie the Marriage Ban Whisperer
West Virginia anti-equality advocates took a hit yesterday in the state house. So tomorrow, they'll bring out the big guns:
WHO: The Family Policy Council of West Virginia will hold a press conference during its "Let Us Vote" marriage rally featuring Maggie Gallagher, President of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), Randy Wilson, National Field Director for Family Research Council (FRC) and Jeremy Dys, President and General Counsel of the Family Policy Council of West Virginia. Several West Virginia lawmakers have also been invited to speak.
...
WHAT: Almost half of West Virginia's state senators have signed on as sponsors to a marriage protection amendment resolution promoted by the Family Policy Council of West Virginia. The West Virginia Senate is sending a strong message that there is no legitimate reason to prevent the voters of West Virginia from settling the legal definition of marriage.
...
WHERE: West Virginia Capitol, North Steps
WHEN: Thursday, February 25, noon
'Let Us Vote' Press Conference, Thursday, Feb. 25, Noon, Capitol Steps [PR Newswire]
She sure gets around, that Maggie. What she lacks in simple willingness to refrain from using her personal faith beliefs to stifle others' civil rights she surely makes up for in frequent flyer miles. Maybe someday she'll use them for a vacation rather than a rights evacuation.
West Virginia: Resist the out-of-state, carefully code-worded astroturf!
Your thoughts
Forgive me, but I couldn't pass on this:
"she surely makes up for in frequent flyer miles"
I wonder if she gets triple miles for having to book three seats for herself?
Actually I don't feel so badly - she uses her book to demonize same sex partners, but clearly ignores its content on gluttony.

Doesn't Maggie The Cat have a home life? or are WE her whole life. Such a dedicated, misinformed, misdirected , vitriolic bitch. Had a kid out of wedlock and now trashes same gender marriage and rights. She doesn't get that her religion wants to make her subservient to man, and make miscarriages a death penalty.

Speaking of astroturf, I saw a blurb about NOM losing another round in the "mask the donor's identity" appeals in Maine recently, and am wondering when the state regulators (in ME and CA) are going to put some teeth in their demands to learn where NOM's money is coming from??

This is another lurid example of radical anti-gay activists and large, anti-gay advocacy groups trying to use the government to impose their "religious beliefs" on everyone else. That is not democracy, it's religious tyranny which was one of the reasons many people left Europe hundreds of years ago and came to the US. Do we really want to let the Christian Taliban turn our country into a theocracy while hiding it behind "let the people vote?"

"You know that you have created God in your own image when God hates all the same people you do!' - Anne Lamotte
And that is what to expect from all the Maggie Gallaghers of the world.

Dale,
I don't care for this woman any more than the rest of us, but please don't insult our intelligence with fat jokes. They are flat out rude and make us look bad.

Maybe she can use those frequent flyer miles at weight watchers and a good dentist to wire her teeth shut.
