AFTAH on dubious list: A long overdue American truth

by Jeremy Hooper

6A00D8341C503453Ef0120A55F31B6970C-1Back in 2008, this writer was honored to have this here website chosen by anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera as the 10th of the "20...good reasons why Christians (or anyone) should never feel guilty about a single-minded focus in countering the homosexual/transsexual activist and pro-abortion lobbies." But now, fast forward to present day, and its Pete's turn to have his site recognized by another. Namely the Southern Poverty Law Center, who has listed Pete's AFTAH as one of fifteen anti-gay hate sites that are working to h-t-t-pee on the LGBT community's peace:

Peter LaBarbera’s AFTAH Listed As Hate Web Site By SPLC; Escapes Listing As Hate Group [Box Turtle Bulletin]

Congrats, P.L.! Be sure to tell me what you're dong to celebrate, so that I can condemn it the same way that you did my wedding.

*One note about the SPLC's new site list: They include both Article8.org and MassResistance.org. Article 8 is actually nothing more than the old name for MassResistance, so there's really no reason to include the old site.

Your thoughts

Hey, Jeremy,

Just off the cuff - ANYONE who would condemn your wedding deserves to ROT IN HELL - as Peter the "peeper" will, undoubtedly. Love ya, kid.

Took them long enough.

What our opponents like Peter La B and so on don't understand, institutions like the SPLC don't take such lists lightly, and especially not the criteria that created them.

Hate related orgs, crime, laws are carefully scrutinized, tracked and the list is a reference tool for researchers.
Peter LaB and so on like to treat gay lives as unimportant and HIS as if the slightest challenge to him is persecution.
P. LaB doesn't appreciate what his life, this country and so on have done for him already.

If he doesn't like the designation and is gearing up for a pity party, or painting the SPLC as misguided or under the influence of homosexuals, then it's his way of underestimating the worth of the SPLC and overestimating his own.

It doesn't matter that P.LaB is on the wrong side of history.
What he SHOULD do is understand the nature of how he got on the list, what a hate org is and understand who he's really in company with, instead of the predictable whining he will do about how persecuted HE is.

Is this some sort of slight... I mean other than the obvious. By not calling him a hate-group, is the SPLC also saying that LaBarBear is just a single, militantly anti-gay loon standing (on his heaping pile of personally purloined porno) all by himself?
