Brian's extra supporters: Hidden in same place as supposed right to vote for marriage repeal

by Jeremy Hooper

The Washington Post put the attendance at "several dozen." D.C. locals have told us the same. And a Flickr picture from the event bears this out:

But leave it to the National Organization for Marriage to inflate both the numbers and the importance of their recent "Stand For Marriage DC" event. This from NOM's Brian Brown:

Outside the courtroom of the D.C. Court of Appeals, we pro-marriage forces rallied under the leadership of Bishop Harry Jackson. "This is the new civil rights movement!" I told a crowd of 250 enthusiastically cheering marriage champions!

Every single photo we've seen from this event features this sparse semi-circle of supporters. And common sense would tell you that if one were taking a long shot, they would step back and capture as much of the expanse as possible. So that, coupled with WaPo and other anecdotal accounts, make it pretty damn clear that the 250 figure is as far off as NOM's ideas about voting on a minority's civil rights and such faith-motivated tyranny's role within the pantheon of American history!
