Sapphic not Pyrrhic: Openly Ohioan Democrat set for state house win

Nickie-AntonioNickie Antonio tonight won the Democratic primary in the District 13 Ohio State House race that drew no Republican opponents for the fall. With only token opposition in the general election this November, Antonio is poised to become the state’s first openly LGBT state legislator.

She chose her state, she chose her district, she chose her party, she chose her policy positions, she chose her desired electoral office. Her gender, eye color, sexual orientation, skin tone, and handedness chose her. Little by little, that perspective is sinking in to American voters' collective craniums.
