'Ms.' looks at 'traditional marriage' B.S.

by Jeremy Hooper

Never one to be relegated to a Mrs. role, the folks at Ms. magazine are now looking at the ridiculous idea that 1950s style Ozzie & Harriet unions for which the social conservatives fight are the one, true form of "traditional marriage":

Every generation’s changes have been fought tooth and nail by “traditionalists,” only to have those reforms be incorporated into the next generation’s definition of “traditional” marriage. Now, ironically, the once-radical idea of “equal marriage” between husbands and wives is considered “traditional” because that’s what many assume was always the case. But it was a feminist idea about equality between women and men slowly becoming a mainstream “American” idea that forced this substantial redefinition of marriage.
*FULL PIECE: Could ANYONE Really Support “Traditional” Marriage? [Ms.]

It's totally true. "Tradition" includes concubines. "Tradition" is incentivized with dowries. "Tradition" comes with "get back in that kitchen and get me my dinner!" expectations. "Tradition" made dealbreakers out of both faith and race.

"Traditional marriage" is a lie. But love, law, and the protection of the fellow citizens who exist in a given time? That is forever.
