Iowa For Freedom: Liars.

by Jeremy Hooper

Remember when we showed you the outrageous way that the so-called "Iowa For Mob Rule" "Iowa For Freedom" group is flipping the script on Sandra Day O'Connor's opposition to their efforts so that it seems like the retired Supreme Court justice is instead supporting their cause? Yea, well -- the organizational deception just got a gagillion times worse!

First, look at this. This is how IowaPolitics.com reports some recent comments that O'Connor made it Des Moines:

“We have to address the pressures that are being applied to that one safe place, the courtroom,” O’Connor said. “We have to have a place where judges are not subject to outright retaliation for their judicial decisions. That’s the concept. Sure they can be ousted and that’s part of the system, but what the framers of our federal constitution tried to do was establish a system of judicial selection where the judges would not be subject to retaliation by the other branches for their judicial actions.”

We can all agree that she expressed total opposition to the attempt to politically retaliate against the justices who voted for marriage equality, yes? Okay, right -- so now check out the following pic. This is a graphic that Iowa For Freedom is running on their campaign site:

Yup, your eyes are still working: These supposed "freedom-lovers" completely truncated O'Connor's comment, even cutting off the one quoted line in mid sentence without using ellipses to indicate an incomplete thought. Basically they have taken someone who's entire effort in Iowa has been to enlighten the public about the role of the fair and independent judiciary, and are instead using her to further muddy the waters of this conversation! It's truly offensive, both to our republic and our collective intellect. Especially to Iowans' brains and, well -- freedom.

And why does it matter on an empirical level? Well, here check this out: These are the two comments that follow the above blog posting:

And that's exactly what Iowa For Freedom and its leader, Bob Vander Plaats, wants to happens. This anti-LGBT crew wants their supporters to be deliberately deceived, because they know that blinders are the only way that their ugly double-dealing will remain imperceptible.
