One in TN: Matches and spray can vs. peace
A Tennessee couple's benign existence earns them an unsolicited, unprovoked, unoriginal, unbelievably cruel paint job and bonfire:
VONORE (WATE) - The home of Carol and Laura Stutte on County Road 320 in Vonore was destroyed by fire last Saturday.
The word "queers" was also spray painted in large letters on their garage.
The couple feels they're victims of a hate crime, and were targeted because they're gay. They've been together for more than 15 years.
Lesbian couple in Vonore says house fire is hate crime [WATE]
It'd be easy to use this to indict the states that lie below the Mason-Dixon line. But the reality is that this can and does happen everywhere, fueled on by a climate that still makes an issue out of every single LGBT baby that comes into this world. So the finger is not to be pointed towards any one direction on the map. The blame is laid at the feet of anyone who looks at the spectrum of our world's normalcy and then takes it upon his or her self to drive the discourse south.
