Congratulations to Florida and its residents. Last night, the Anita Bryant era ban on gay and lesbian adoption finally succumbed to a drawn out termination process that's been so long-coming, and so filled with both cruelty and struggle, that it's overwrought death would surely make even local resident Dexter Morgan wince:
It's over!
Moments ago, Department of Children & Families' (DCF) Director, George Sheldon, announced that the agency will not appeal last month's court ruling which struck down Florida's ban on gay and lesbian adoption as "unconstitutional."
It is now legal for gay and lesbian parents to adopt children everywhere in the state of Florida.

No word on how the state plans to reimburse local activists for the 30+ years that they've had to pause their lives and fight this senseless battle.
