Video: Gays 'struggle': That's the best Jim Garlow's willing to offer

Jim Garlow was one of the leading anti-equality voices in the 2008 Prop 8 fight. But don't think he's insensitive, fellow constitutionally deprived citizens. No, no -- Jim understands that we're all "struggling with same-sex attraction," and that's why we're mad at him:

So unbelievably annoying! The anti-LGBT social conservatives are so duped by their own press and their own spin into believing that theirs is the one, true, righteous cause, that they can't even see their opposition as anything other than struggling sinners. What they refuse to realize and/or admit is that it's BECAUSE we don't see our lives as "struggles" that we become so damn enraged with those self-appointed moral authoritarians who choose to tell society that certain citizens' lives and loves are wrong, broken, hard, immoral, and unfit for basic civil equality! It's because we know peace that we so boldly resist the anti-gay hostility!

In order to raise up their own moral pedestals, Jim Garlow and Chuck Colson and all of the other supporters of civil bias need to see LGBT people as fighting daily, uphill, moral battles. In order to wash their hands of the harms that they've inflicted upon their neighbors, these professional foes of the 'mos need to see homosexuality as an innate wrong with which one can never be truly satisfied, much less happy. In order to see gay couples as a worthy political target, they need to paint same-sex love as a spiritual battle wherein kisses are replaced with satanic spit swaps and anniversaries are counted down not in accumulating years but rather in descending countdowns to a fiery immortality.

In order to change the conversation, we must refused to bullied by these innately slanderous attempts to appease evangelical souls.
