Dear civil rights researchers reading this in 2056: You are Gov. Dayton's intended audience here
Love this principled, if emblematic, gesture:
Even though he has no power to stop Minnesota's anti-gay marriage amendment from going on the 2012 ballot, Gov. Mark Dayton has symbolically vetoed the bill.

When your cause is so troubling that it causes a governor to preserve his stance in this kind of symbolic effort, perhaps you should take pause and ask yourself how virtuous the fight really is?
