Defending marriage in IL: Involves calling us 'disgusting' and in need of 'changing', apparently
So you know that Illinois Defense of Marriage Initiative rally that Peter LaBarbera, representatives from the Illinois Family Institute, "ex-gay" Linda Jernigan, and members from TFP and CatholicVote.org (both friends of the National Organization For Marriage) are gearing up to throw in Chicago this Friday? The same one that LaBarbera accused us of "spinning," simply because we presented the flyers and pitch letters as written? Yea, well, so get this: One of the speakers lined up for that event, Jim Finnegan, President of Illinois Choose Life, has left a comment on our post about the rally. And so, to avoid being accused of "spinning" once again, we will now proceed to show you what, exactly, Mr. Finnegan and company are planning to say about us:

Far enough, Mr Finnegan. We only have one request. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE say such things when local television cameras are running. As we continue our quest to say a complacent public just how far beyond "protecting marriage" the opposition movement really wishes to take its cause, we will quite gladly sit back and let you connect the dots for us.

*NOTE: You may notice that we've listed Illinois Family Institute involvement in the rally. We should say that no IFI leaders are scheduled to speak. However, IFI president Dave Smith sits on the organizing committee of the host organization, Americans For Life.
