NY Sen. Ruben Diaz: 'Boycott pro-gay 'El Diario La Prensa'!'

by Jeremy Hooper

Getimage.Aspx-1So now how is NY Sen. Ruben Diaz, the most vocally anti-LGBT lawmaker in the whole state legislature, using his influence to create jobs and support his community? Oh, by telling his constituents and supporters to boycott New York City's largest and oldest Spanish-language daily newspaper, natch.

This from an official press release:

The Newspaper, El Diario La Prensa, calls itself “The Champion of the Hispanics.”

But you will never read or find a reporter from El Diario La Prensa covering one of the hundreds of events that we Evangelical Christians celebrate throughout the year.
...
But when it comes to an event regarding homosexuals or an event in favor of abortion, even if there are four people attending, El Diario La Prensa highlights these events on its front pages.

The Bible has given us the authority that whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loose in heaven (Matthew 18:18).

For this reason, on Monday, May 16th we will begin a boycott against the newspaper “El Diario La Prensa.”

If our events and activities are irrelevant, if our events and activities are ignored by them, then the 50 cents that our brothers and sisters and members of our community spend daily buying El Diario La Prensa to be used to promote abortion and same-sex marriage, should no longer be contributed.

This is why we are asking our community to join in the defense of morality and not to buy El Diario La Prensa.

We will instruct our congregations, friends, relatives and the Hispanic Community, that starting on Monday, May 16th, they should not contribute their 50 cents to the propaganda and promotion of abortion and same-sex marriage.

“He Who is Not With Us, Is Against Us” (Luke 9:50) [Press release: Sen. Ruben Diaz]

So wait, if it's a media outlet supporting a legislative matter pertaining to civil marriage, it's "propaganda," yet if it's an elected lawmaker in a church/state-separated nation using his personal religious views to impose his own definitions of morality onto any person or business who falls outside of his own purview, it's simply a matter of "defense"? Why, exactly, is our side still giving this nonsense such a HUGE pass?!?

*REMINDER: Diaz is sponsoring a May 15th anti-equality rally alongside none other than the National Organization For Marriage.
