Poll: Most Minnesotans think time-wasting bias is complete waste of time
Encouraging numbers coming out of The North Star State:
A majority of Minnesotans oppose amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage, according to a new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll.
Fifty-five percent of respondents said they oppose adding such an amendment while 39 percent favor a constitutional ban -- views that appear to be a sharp reversal of poll results seven years ago.

Nevertheless, it looks like an expensive, highly divisive marriage amendment battle will be coming to the state's 2012 polls, where it, like every one of these fights to come before, will undoubtedly turn very, very ugly. Sure, these numbers are encouraging, suggesting that we will actually win this one. But having seen these referenda up close, this writer knows just how wounding these conversations get, regardless of outcome. For that reason alone, the "let's vote on a minority population's civil rights" crowd should be deeply concerned with what this forthcoming situation will mean for their state. Their political reputations. Their legacies. Their assumed desire to do right by consituents.
